Google is conducting an amazing project for preserving language diversity.
The Noto font is out.
https://www.google.com/get/noto/

Main goal: cover all of unicode with a consistent font, and get rid of the little "▯" (tofu) once and for all.

The font is open source and under OFL license. It comes in both serif and sans-serif variants. You can use it as a web font right now¹ for most languages, with additional in early access.²

Many thanks to Tobias Macey for a nice interview about my first serious open source project: PyTables. But I really owe a lot to the community that put his effort and love to keep PyTables alive. Thanks all!

How to handle big data on modern computers. See the slides of my recent talk at Curtin University: https://t.co/jnNElhITfU
Look specially at how compression can help in satellite imaging at NCI.

PyTables is adopting a new interface for allowing different backends, and most specially h5py: https://github.com/PyTables/PyTables/blob/pt4/doc/New-Backend-Interface.rst
The work has started, but this project still needs some more love.
