Big news for those of you who are using Flipgrid - it's now FREE FOREVER!

If you have not yet used this with your students, you'll certainly want to give it a try. Flipgrid is a video response platform where educators can have online video discussions with students or other educators. Teachers can provide feedback to students AND better yet students can provide feedback to one another.

Each grid is effectively a message board where teachers can pose a question and their students can post 90-second video responses that appear in a tiled "grid" display.

Let me know if you would like some help getting this going in your classroom. It's a game changer for feedback and engagement.

The Michigan Integrated Technology Competencies for Students (MITECS), released December 2017, replace the 2009 Michigan Educational Technology Standards for Students (METS-S). These updated competencies focus on learning enhanced by technology, rather than on technology tools. When you get a moment, take a quick read through the competencies and post below any questions you have about them.

The new Windows 10 Creator Update has some interesting 3D creation tools in it. Looks like MS is going pretty big into AR/VR and 3D with this update.

Physics can be difficult to grasp—even for adults. So how do you teach the subject’s abstract ideas to middle schoolers?

Show some of the concepts in action. That’s the idea behind Peer, an experimental project from New York-based design firm Moment that uses mixed reality to teach middle schoolers scientific ideas such as aerodynamics, sound waves, gravity, and acceleration. The project, though purely conceptual, is a tantalizing hint at where technology in the classroom could be headed next.
