The go-to for kitchen remodeling. For me the best part is the detailed showroom, where you can explore all the options. My wife and I were stuck and could not decide until we came here. Friendly staff were truly the experts we needed to help us make a decision. I can't recommend them more highly.

We have had FA Design Build of Fairfax do two flooring jobs in our home and are completely satisfied with both jobs. The basement flooring job was straightforward, while the kitchen job was much more involved. It required removal of old flooring and, due to uneven floors, new subflooring that also involved leveling required for installation of Cambria countertops. Throughout the projects, the showroom staff had excellent advice and oversight and the work crews were thoroughly professional and displayed excellent workmanship. I am glad we went with FA Design Build and highly recommend them.

The kitchen flooring that was removed and replaced by flooring America was a very good experience. The people who worked on our project was very pleasant and highly skilled. The floor looks great and the service was excellent. We would recommend Flooring America for any floor needs. The experience from measurement, proposal, sales and the installation was a good experience. What I liked most was that there was no short cutting of anything. They took the time to do it right. Thanks

My wife and I have purchased laminate flooring and carpet from Flooring America. During the sales process, we have told the person who measured our house that our floors squeak in some places. We also pointed this out to the installer when he dropped off materials 2 days prior to the installation. Both times the response was, "we will use screws to tighten the sub floor". No one has said that we would need to put a layer of plywood throughout the house to fix the problem. When the installer showed up to do the job, first thing he checked was the spacing of the joists and he determined that they are too far apart. He told us that unless we put a layer of plywood on top of existing sub floor throughout the house, Flooring America would not guarantee the installation. About an hour later, site manager has contacted my wife and told her that the cost of plywood and labor will be $2000, and he again confirmed that "lifetime warranty" offered by Flooring America will not be honored unless we agreed to install the plywood. He also insisted that she make a decision on the spot because the installers were already at the house doing nothing waiting for the plywood issue to get resolved. Basically, Flooring America pressured my wife into saying "yes". Upon obtaining verbal agreement from my wife, the installers proceeded with the flooring installation. We feel that Flooring America knew ahead of time that we will need plywood but, in the hopes of making extra money off of us, did not disclose the issue to us before we signed the contract. In fact, when we expressed our displeasure to the salesperson who sold us the floor, he said that the plywood was installed to prevent the laminate flooring from caving in and that with the type of floor we purchased "caving in" was highly unlikely. After all plywood installation was unnecessary. Also, the sales person, threatened to send our account to collection agency. Two weeks later, he called to tell us that their attorney has put a lien on our house. We have never received a bill from Flooring America for the plywood installation or any communication from their attorney.

Response from the owner - a year ago
This response was posted a few months ago but with the changes on Google Places we had to re-post. -- Russel, First I want to apologize to you and your wife. We never want anyone to feel pressured about anything we do. I am sorry if there was any miscommunication in our phone calls or in person. We do provide a lifetime installation warranty on all of our services and if we felt like this was necessary, is was to give you the best installation possible. Again I apologize if you feel were you were misled, we never want to go back to a customer with additional charges unless there is no other option. Again this is not the way we do business and we are very sorry. This has made us re-look at how we deliver news for additional charges and for that we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Thanks Barry

This was my first renovation experience. We had to renovate one existing bathroom and add a new smaller bathroom in our townhouse. This job required the contractor to add rough in for new bath, move pipes for fire sprinklers, move wall, new walls, new doors framing, tiles, new ducts etc. Despite some initial delays Flooring America did a phenomenal job. - We got quotes from 4 other Angie's list A rated contractors. FA was by far the best value. - Briton, Jessica and Carlos were the project managers, designer and contractor respectively. They were very professional and nice to work with. - The workers were very profession, they padded the floors, used dust screens/tarps to cordon off the construction ares. - We specified in the contract that we would be buying the accessories, tiles, faucets, vanities etc. All communication was done via email, FA would confirm every purchase before I put in the order. - We are very happy with our new bathroom and will work in FA again!

We were looking for Marmoleum to use in a bathroom and were pleased to find FA would install it, not many places have it. The sales person was very helpful with choosing a color and explaining options. The estimator was also good and explained a little extra work was required at the door threshold. He mentioned that the standard install procedure was to put down 1/4" luan below the sheet and cover the edges with baseboard. I explained I did not want the luan in order to keep the floor at the planned height below the wall tile and because luan is not waterproof. Also I did not want to use baseboard next to the wall tile. He agreed not to use the luan but said it would not look right without baseboard. When the installers came they told me they were going to put down luan. I told them that was not the plan... good thing I was there. After prepping the floor they discovered the sheet was too short, they had to come back a week later. Apparently the supplier sent a shorter piece and they did not check it. Once they came back they did a careful job installing it and I was able to use tile grout at the edge between the floor and wall rather than baseboard. The lesson I learned is that changes from standard procedure can be done, but can cause problems. I think it is uncommon to put linoleum in the bathroom in our area. We are very happy with the floor. So far most people do not know what it is, but they like it.

My wife and I had our condo kitchen and master bath totally renovated by FA Design. This is the fourth dwelling that we have had renovated over the past 35 years. This was by far the best experience. We also had them build two floor to ceiling cabinets to increase our storage while adding to the decor. Both were home runs! Jessica Cannon was absolutely outstanding as the designer and our primary point of contact The team of professionals that worked with her matched her professionalism. They showed great flexibility and adjusted to our special needs and unforeseen issues. It was a great job and done in a timely manner. We recommend them highly.
