Your stories, your voice.

Al Jazeera America wants to know which stories you think the national media has missed and need to be covered. Our #OpenEditorial meeting is your chance to connect with us directly and pitch a story idea for coverage.

If your submission is chosen, you will be asked to join us in a live Google+ Hangout, this Friday, June 28, at 12pm ET / 9am PT with Lisa Fletcher, host of “The Stream.”

Producers and hosts will be tweeting on #OpenEditorial all week discussing your ideas. So RSVP to the event, send us your ideas and join the conversation!

Story
Introduction
Jonathan Dube is an award-winning leader and pioneer in digital media. He is currently Senior Vice President and General Manager of News & Information at AOL, responsible for leading the organization's News content division, which includes the News, Tech, Finance & Sports groups.

He has served twice as President of the Online News Association and run major media sites in two countries: CBC.ca in Canada and AOL News and ABCNews.com in the US. He is also the founder and publisher of CyberJournalist.net, a site about how technology is transforming the media.

He's been described as "a major figure in the online news business" by Editor & Publisher magazine and "a web reporting pioneer" by The Poynter Institute. Among his accomplishments, he was an early pioneer in TV-Web convergence and one of the first journalists to use the blog format to cover news.

During his career, he has managed national news sites, sports sites and local sites. In his present role as Senior Vice President and General Manger for AOL News & Information, he manages more than a dozen sites, spanning everything from politics to ultimate fighting. Previously, he served as the VP & GM in charge of ABCNews.com; the senior digital media executive for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's news division; and Managing Producer of MSNBC.com. He has also written for publications ranging from The New York Times to the Columbia Journalism Review.

Among his many individual honors, he won the Online News Association's first Breaking News Award in 2000 for his coverage of the World Trade Organization protests. He also helped lead ABCNews.com, CBC.ca and MSNBC.com to numerous digital media awards. He has a master's degree in journalism from the Columbia University School of Journalism, which awarded him its first-ever New Media Award.
