How To Prevent Wood Floor Gaps in the Winter! Here is a great informative article on why wood floors show gaps in the winter month, how to try and alleviate this from happening and what is considered normal. Wood flooring is constantly in motion absorbing moisture during seasons with higher humidity levels (spring & summer) causing a floor to tighten and swell, and drying out and often showing gapping in the winter months. This is a direct result of our furnaces continuously running, pumping our hoses full of heat, lowering relative humidity levels and causing wood floors to shrink. We have to remember that although wood floor are milled and made by man, the material itself is not, and acts and performs like anything else made out of wood! It is important to educate our customers and have realistic expectations on how a wood floor is going to perform. Click on link below to read full article.

Here are some before and after photos of our team refinishing a plugged V-groove floor that was pickled white back in the 80's. The floors were completely refinished, along with hand scraping the v-grooves. Floors were finished with Dura Seal Weathered Oak Stain, and a Satin Oil Based Polyurethane.
