In celebration of Mother Earth Day, Chief Kitsap Academy will be hosting an Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate and Ocean Change. High school students from Quinalt, Quileute, Makah, and Muckleshoot tribes join students at Chief Kitsap Academy to give presentations on conservation and cultural projects alongside virtual presentations via Google Hangout by indigenous students from Hawaii and American Samoa.
Philippe Cousteau, Jr. and Ta'Kaiya Blaney, a 15-year old environmental activist from the Tla'amin First Nation, will be discussing projects with the students and future action.

Today! Join us in just over 1 hour as we kick off #EarthMonth !
Join EarthEcho as we kick off a National Tree Planting campaign to mitigate carbon emissions and lessen the impacts of ocean acidification and climate change. Trees not only sequester carbon but also provide habitat, reinforce stream banks, and beautify our communities.

On the virtual field trip we will visit Coventry, OH where Jim Trogdon and his sixth grade students, along with the Ohio EPA and Ken Christensen of Davey Tree Experts, are restoring a local stream bank and will plant over 500 trees in late April. Hear about the project they've undertaken, the benefits to their community, and how you too can plant trees (from one to one thousand!) in your community.
