Water is a proven ingredient to mold’s existence. Bleach is not only harmful to your health in this matter, but its contents are made of 99% water. So just imagine trying to destroy mold with an active ingredient that actually helps it exist. It may remove the surface mold, but it can cause mold to re-grow possibly in the same location. Give us a call today if you notice any mold, so we can properly assist you!

Rain can be very unforgiving! Make sure your basement is protected!
When it rains, you shouldn’t have to worry about having water in your basement!
Be sure when it rains outside that your downspout lines are unblocked and clear of debris. When objects (leaves, paper, mud etc.) clutter the downspout lines during rain, it causes a blockage, which sends water back into your foundation. Be sure that you have a working SUMP PUMP to combat any water causing issues. To schedule a free consultation please give us a call!

Warmer temperatures are here! How can you control the humidity in your home?
+ Keep the windows closed
+ Use the right dehumidifier for your home – we prefer Santa Fe' Classic
+ Let as little air in from the outside as possible
+ Regulate relative humidity below 50%
+ Clean the air while dehumidifying
Here Are The Facts:
High humidity makes our bodies less efficient at releasing heat which causes us to sweat.
This high humidity gives the perception of a higher temperature which makes things uncomfortable.
Dust mites need an environment with above 50% relative humidity to thrive.
Mold needs an environment with 60-70% relative humidity to grow.
Think you have a humidity problem in the home? Call us today for a Free consultation.

Does your basement or crawl space need a dehumidifer? Are you experiencing high humidity? Relative humidity levels shouldn’t exceed 40%. An imbalance in humidity levels can cause allergic reactions, respiratory issues, mold growth, stains on walls, condensation, dust mites, and other ongoing health problems. A dehumidfier can save you in a lot of ways! A dehumidifier:
- Eliminates musty odors
- Prevents wood rot
- Saves money on energy bills
- Helps control allergens
Please give us a call today to discuss your options!

It isn't uncommon for a homeowner to reach out to us after a heavy rain, complaining about their basement flooding. In many cases, their sump pump has stopped functioning, and it's caused a headache in their basement! When the forecast spells rain, you owe it to yourself to have a properly working sump pump. Here are some sump pump facts you need to know:
• The average life of a sump pump is 10 years.
• The average time before a sump pump problem occurs is 5-7 years
• The most common problem amongst sump pumps is the pump switch
• If a sump pump fails during a storm, hundreds of gallons can flood your basement
• You should have your sump pump checked at least once a year

Concerned about cracked, crumbling or bowing basement and crawl space walls?
If you notice a crack or even a bowed wall in your foundation, don’t look the other way! It is the sign of some sort of damage. When doing routine property inspections, start with the foundation itself. Built to last, this underlying support should never show any noticeable signs of structural damage, including:
• Hairline fractures or cracks (vertical, horizontal or zigzagging)
• Sloping, sagging or buckling of foundation floors or walls
• Ruptures or gaps
• Crumbling or flaking (of the concrete)
• Moisture (including pooling water, mold and stains)
These inspections should be conducted both inside the home (within the basement and crawl space) and along all exterior surfaces of the foundation. If any of these points apply to you, give us a call to schedule a free consultation with one of our experts!

Basement Doctor Tip:
It is very important to maintain the gutters and grading around your home! 25% of problems discovered during inspection, are a result of improper exterior maintenance.
When there’s a back and forth of rain and cold temperatures it can affect the grading and soil around your home. If the soil stays saturated, these are some other things that can happen:
• During a freeze, saturated soil can expand exerting additional pressure around your walls.
• This can cause a cycle of wall cracking and begin to weaken the foundation.
• These cracks can be entry points for water to find its way into your home.
We offer products to both reinforce the wall strength and correct wall movement!
It is also VERY important to clean leaves out of your gutters. When your gutter is clogged with leaves water can’t flow properly. This will result in water leaking into your home and maybe even cause mold growth. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a FREE consultation give us a call!
