Some students at MIT have created cubes, without any visible moving parts, that can self-assemble into larger structures. I know what I want for Christmas now! :-)

Hey,
I have an app on heroku (the free plan) and regularly get Application Error on media files uploads from django admin. I use S3 for serving static&media. What is the best way to upload files to S3 directly via django admin? Or maybe there is some other way to mitigate this problem (withot adding dynos)?
Thanks guys!

Hey guys,
one of those things that you need some grasp of django internals which I still lack. I'm testing a blogging app zinnia (http://django-blog-zinnia.com/). With DEBUG = False I get my website without static assets (locally, this I can understand), with DEBUG = True, it's ok with static, but translations don't  work i.e. website is not rendered in my chosen language. Why? Anyone so kind to explain?:)

Wow... Thought Flipboard will run on the top end fancy android 4.0 phones only. To my surprise it requires 2.2 and this made my day;]

Hey,
question about mappings. E.g., to close window I can <c-w>q. I thought that it would be nice to map <c-w> to :bd. How should I go about it? nnoremap <c-w>w :bd<CR> doesn't seem to do the trick.

As far as I can see, that should work, and when I quickly tested it here, it did indeed work. What happens when you press ctrl-w, w?

Nice business card!
How about a Terminal-window-themed  business card? :D

A newbie here. I'm trying to get my head around the git terminology, so sorry for my lack of precision. My local setup looks like this:
dir_one/
    .git
    [...]
    dir_two/
        [files]
What I would like to achieve is to have only the [files] in my (remote) repo without them being contained in dir_two/, i.e. now I have dir_two/[files]. Is there a clean way to do it, or maybe there are some reasons I shouldn't do it? ;p

I have a problem with Django. I went through the official django tutorial and first few chapters of django book. I have the impression that there is a gap between simple example of 'polls app' and real world applications. Does any one know a comprehensive intermediate level tutorial or 'real world django' (registering, authenticating users, social authentication, serving static content, deploying etc.) ? What's next after the official tutorial?

Kenneth Love is working on video tutorial series to fill in the gap between the tutorial and the real world called Getting Started With Django (http://gettingstartedwithdjango.com/). Should be available within the next couple of months. You can follow progress reports on twitter @gswdjango.

I'm with @hblodget, who noted, over on Twitter, "OMG: You have to watch +Mark Cuban  shred this ESPN commentator. About time someone cut through the cliches."

I love how Mark just says it like it is. He's a truth machine.

In this case, it's sports, but he's just as matter-of-factly insightful and honest about business and public policy. A true maverick, who helps us to see the world without the blinders of convention.
"First of all, you have the presumption that people care what you say. They don't."
