I was the designated computer scientist at the Guardian Activate Summit... at least for the first few hours. Main point was to illustrate unambiguous benefits of large-scale learning from large scale data via some very clear use cases. Not a panacea (note my response to question re: correlation vs. cause and effect) but broadly, and increasingly, useful. And not well understood by the public so I think examples are useful .
