Sauvik Das presented our SOUPS 2014 paper looking at how social influences could help people's awareness of, motivation to improve, and knowledge of cybersecurity. We also looked at what kinds of triggers cause people to talk about cybersecurity, either online or face to face.

Here are slides from my talk at HCIC 2015, about the role of theory to Technical HCI work. I give an example of how we used social psychology to help improve cybersecurity, and use this to reflect on why theory can sometimes be useful, and what kinds of HCI theory would be more useful to people like me who want to build systems.
