Have any of my Germany-based friends tried self-publishing? I'm trying to find out what is involved, but there seems to be a lot of conflicting information, and it's pretty confusing. Some sources suggest I need a Gewerbeschein, others claim that could actually be harmful and I should just register with the tax office (and possibly the Künstlersozialkasse?), and some sources say I don't even need to register unless I want to deduct input tax.

Are you sure that 3-5 cents per word is correct? There was an article on EN World a couple of years ago, where +Russ Morrissey did some research into the starting rates offered by various publishers for freelance writing, and he listed Pinnacle as offering 6 cents per word for new writers, with "Higher for some folks, plus a % of any crowd funding we do if they're one of the principle creators": http://www.enworld.org/forum/content.php?2301-What-s-a-Freelance-RPG-Writer-Worth

Saga of the Goblin Horde is now available on DriveThruRPG! This is version 3, and includes a few very minor corrections (mostly cosmetic).

Obviously I cannot sell the PDF due to the license, but if you like it, please consider taking the time to write a short and honest review. It'd help me out a lot.

Guild of Shadows, the perfect setting for those who love playing thieves, rogues, spies and assassins. These are my first print on demand books, and while they are both great quality, I have to say the hardback is exceptionally nice.
