I’m curious about pretty much everything, and I’m a risk taker. Certainly, that makes for an interesting life, and that’s a lot of the lure of TV News after more than a decade away. You just never know where you’ll be, what you’ll be reporting or what you’ll discover. It’s new every day.
What started as delivering the morning announcements in high school grew into a lot of radio, television and plenty of commercials in college and beyond. Now, I’ve looped back around, and it’s all good.
I’ve learned a lot in the wild and woolly world of entrepreneurialism, especially about design, ideas, people and business, and I think maybe that’s made me a better teller of stories. I’m so appreciative of anyone who hangs it all out there risking life, limb, family and fortune on a “What if…?” or a “I’m going to try…” or some “I think I can do this…” Teddy Roosevelt said it right: “The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena.”
I’ve spent life mostly in the southern U.S., mostly Texas. A pair of terrific daughters down there keeps me smiling. I’m a Florida native, grew up in Houston, picked up my Journalism degree at Texas A&M University in College Station, anchored news in Texas and Kansas, and, before coming to Omaha, spent ten years in business in Dallas. There were lots of adventures along the way.
I’m a follower and player of golf and tennis, a follower of Formula 1 and Moto GP, and an enthusiastic, though recently slacking, cyclist.
It’s good to be among the good folks of Omaha and great colleagues at KETV.
