Thank you to our gracious employees and firm who donated financially to support Houston Bar Association's AIDS Outreach Committee Adopt-a-Family gift program. Our firm use the donations to purchase gifts for a family of three brothers who lost their mom to a virus a few months ago. Our firm is proud to sponsor this wonderful cause and thankful for everyone who contributed.

As the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA) celebrates its Annual Meeting and CLE Seminar in San Antonio this week, we honor Founding Firm Partner Frank Abraham from 1971, when he served as President of TTLA. Mr. Abraham believed that those who had the privilege of earning a law degree had an equal responsibility to give back to the community. He served in many different leadership positions throughout his legal career and inspired other attorneys at Abraham Watkins to become more involved members of the bar. #TBT

Today would have been have marked Abraham Watkins’ 42nd Annual Christmas Open House. Mother nature dumped 12 feet of water in our first floor during Hurricane Harvey and caused us to cancel. Firm Partner Randy Sorrels is pictured with Allan Wilmes, the firm’s former Office Administrator of 28 years who lost his life to cancer. This photo was taken the day of our Open House in 2014, which was Allan’s last Christmas party to organize for the firm. We will forever appreciate the unwavering dedication that Allan had towards his job, co-workers, family, and friends.

#TBT to 2011, when Firm Partner Benny Agosto, Jr. represented the family of an immigrant from El Salvador who was killed while working for Republic Waste Services, Ltd., a non-subscriber to workers’ compensation. Appellants challenged the trial court’s decision to exclude evidence concerning decedent’s illegal immigrant status. The trial court’s verdict was upheld, setting a new standard in Texas law by preventing the immigration status of a plaintiff from prejudicing a jury and securing the ability of undocumented workers and their families to have a fair day in court.
