There is so much more to SEO than a simple plugin. If it was that easy, then there wouldn’t be people out there making tons of $$$ by helping businesses with their SEO. Yes, plugins are helpful, but I cannot stand it when bloggers simply install a plugin and cross their finger that magic will happen.

I am not in any way anti-plugin. I have many a plugin on my site, to ASSIST me with certain things. But, I put the hard work in behind the scenes to ensure that the plugins do its job perfectly.

Anyway, why am I telling you all of this? Because, reasons. Today I want to show you how to optimise your blog posts for SEO without a SEO plugin. Even if you have a SEO plugin installed, this post will still help you. Yoast (and whichever SEO-plugin you use) requires some work from your side to work. You don’t simply install it and magic will happen.

If you are new to SEO (or you are part of a few Facebook groups for bloggers) then you may have seen the topic of follow vs no-follow links pop up every now and then. It seems to be a very confusing topic for most people. Don’t fear – in this blog post, I unpack follow vs no-follow links, making it as simple as possible to understand (and implement).

I get you. SEO can be confusing and with the wealth of information out there, it can also seem intimidating and complicated. I used to feel exactly the same way. When I started my very first blog, I used to freak out whenever someone mentioned the term SEO around me. And now, almost 9 years later, I am absolutely in love with SEO. Yes, I admit it. I am having a love affair with SEO. After spending a few years working for SA’s largest ecommerce site, spending my days optimising their content for SEO and learning the ins-and-outs of search engines, etc. I learnt that corporate SEO is not for me. But, I couldn’t break up with SEO. So I hatched a plan… Now, I help many bloggers around the world with their SEO. Yay me! I get to do what I love, every single day!

You know you need to start implementing SEO right now. But are you totally and completely stuck and overwhelmed as to how to start with SEO?

SEO doesn’t have to be icky, scary, intimidating or overwhelming! In fact, I’ve found that implementing SEO techniques and strategies early on to be the best thing I could have ever done for my blog and business.

It’s not too late though. Even if you have been blogging for 5+ years, you still have time to get you’re A into G and start kicking some SEO butt!
