Best cheat sheet that I've ever seen for figuring out why a Linux box is running slow

Know thy (Linux) perf tools: http://bit.ly/1t69Uwy - perhaps the most comprehensive overview I've ever come across.

Rocketskates:  Skates with an electric motor with a range of about 6-9 miles.  My reaction: "Well... OK, I guess that would work."
We may not have hover boards yet, but we can have motorized shoes, and Acton is leading the charge with its RocketSkates. Already ...

I wondered how long it would take before people starting installing Linux on the Surface Pro 3.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 is a great laptop/tablet hybrid, as long as you're alright with Windows 8.1. Fortunately, if that's not your thing you can install an alternative with very few problems. #Linux   #Ubuntu

Doesn't surprise me a bit based on my experiences in working on trade show exhibits and conventions. Internet access in the the major hotel chains has joined the pay-per-view market as the current way for hotels to scam large amounts of cash off their customers.
Marriott will cough up $600,000 in penalties after being caught blocking mobile hotspots so that guests would have to pay for its own WiFi services, the FCC has confirmed today. The fine comes afte...

These jokers need to be reminded that the electromagnetic spectrum belongs to everyone... Maybe with baseball bats, torches, and pitchforks...

Here's another item to add to your list of reasons to hate autocorrect: try entering C++ code into an e-mail with autocorrect enabled.

A useful piece of advice to my friends who remain in graduate school.

Wish I had read this a couple of weeks ago... I have a nice katana I could have used to threaten the committee embellish the presentation.

Omni Magazine turned me on to both science and science fiction.
The Museum of Science Fiction, in Washington, D.C., launched its first online gallery, a collection of artwork from the archives of Omni Magazine, a science and sci-fi magazine published from 1978 to 1995.

Finally got enough stuff cleared off the to-do list that I could play around a bit with Yosemite and iOS8 betas.   Confirmed the supposition I took from WWDC about Apple setting things up for some interesting hardware releases.  Wouldn't think that at first if you just looked at the UI as there is a lot just catching up with Android at that level.   It's the underlying plumbing changes that are far more interesting.

Most of the eye candy stuff that showed in iOS8.   However, the really interesting stuff was the things added to support continuity, passthrough, and the new services to support ApplePay, Heathkit, and such.

Every time I read the description for such an item on ThinkGeek I can hear J. Peterman extolling its virtues to Elaine.
