I can remember a couple years back when I uploaded a photograph of the northern lights over the Okanagan and there were some people that come out and said that I had photoshoped them into the sky and that it was impossible to see them this far south.

I'll expect that those same people will now say that it's impossible to have the full milky way arch, the aurora and a proton arc all in one single image. ;-)

I've photographed the northern lights many times but this is the first one I've captured with the Proton Arc \ magenta band of light crossing the milky way.

This is a shot from last night (2015-06-08) that is a stitch of 30 images. (Three rows at ten wide) Canon 5DM2 with a Rokinon 24mm, 13 second exposures at f/1.8 with ISO 3,200.

This is quite an uncommon style of image coming from me but while in Merida I could not resist a day of wandering around and shooting street photography of the locals.

I love when a rare opportunity come my way and I'll admit that I was feeling pretty darn special when a city cop took us past the guard on duty and into the Mérida Opera House after hours.

I was in the covered foyer admiring the architecture and for no reason he invited Sharie and I upstairs for a closer look of the columns on the upper floor. I'm guessing since we were both so impressed with the finish detailing that he decided to step up the tour and show us right into to the opera room. He brought us into the last door on the right of this photo (Same level) where he also allowed us to take photos. I was surprised but never hesitated at all even though the lights were only on very very dim but I assumed the images would be memories and keepsakes at best.

After showing us the opera room I thought we were done and being escorted out but he brought us to another set of doors that when he pulled opened told us was the Presidential seating area. I figured I would press my luck and take a few pictures from here too and it was also allowed. (Yes!)

This is a hand held five image pano that was stitched in PS and processed with Lightroom 5.

I made this spherical panorama while visiting the Government palace in Merida Mexico. The paintings are great but I was must impressed by the architecture and details of this building.

Every now and then we are fortunate enough to stumble upon a rare find, one that you will think back upon with fond memories. For me this is one of those images.

I was invited to join the Penticton photo club for an afternoon out at the Chute lake lodge. I was told it was a pretty cool place and a photographers dream. After 4 hours wandering about I agree.

I made this 8 second exposure one very chilly night in February 2014. I knew the moment that I the shutter and saw the preview on the camera back that this image would be a perfect Christmas Card one day.

SS Sicamous
#Penticton is home to the now dry docked paddle wheeler that once serviced the lake side communities up and down #Okanagan Valley.
