Kenya's General Election due next month will go on as planned. This is after the country's Court of Appeal overturned a High Court decision that stopped the printing of ballots for presidential polls. The country's High Court had earlier this month stopped the printing, after the opposition raised concerns about how the contract was awarded. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission successfully argued there was no time to re-tender for the presidential ballots, and still hold the election on August 8th as constitutionally scheduled.....
The U.S. State Department is urging Americans to consider the risks before traveling to Egypt. It cites terrorists threats and violent political opposition groups. The latest warning follows a similar one issued last December. Egypt has suffered a number of deadly militant attacks blamed on ISIL. The attacks have mainly targeted government officials and security forces. Public venues, tourist sites and several mode of transport have also been targeted...
Gunmen have attacked the base of an elite security unit in Cote d'Ivoire's main city Abidjan and stolen stocks of weapons. This is according to the country's Defence Minister Hamed Bakayoko. Shooting broke out late night on Wednesday, at the national police academy in Abidjan, and lasted for around an hour, according to a witness. Bakayoko visited the base early on Thursday and said security forces had clashed with the attackers, who then fled with stolen weapons....
Tehran is protesting Kuwait's decision to expel Iranian diplomats and shut down Iranian cultural missions. Media reports indicated that Kuwait had ordered the expulsion of the Iranian ambassador and 14 other diplomats for alleged links to a "spy and terror" cell, Iranian and Kuwaiti. Diplomats said it was an unusual move for Kuwait, which usually avoids open conflict.....
