Here it is at last! The first of the 4 books (plus 1 map) comprising the third wave of the Mindjammer kickstarter is going to backers today in its pre-release PDF "Thoughtcast Edition" format. This is THE CORE WORLDS, the sourcebook for playing in the heart of the Commonality, the ancient and hyperadvanced worlds surrounding Old Earth and the solar system of Manhome. Features loads of new background and detail for the Mindjammer universe, including starmaps, genotypes, and oodles of strange and exotic worlds and civilisations.

The production version of the PDF is expected to go on sale in a couple of weeks, with the print version releasing before Christmas.

The Commonality salutes you!

There's an excellent 5-star review of my new novel THE WORM WITHIN (vol 1 of the Chronicles of Future Earth) over at DriveThruRPG / DriveThruFiction today.

"The Worm Within is a very enjoyable read. I recommend it and look forward to the next installment... vast and resplendent... pure unadulterated pulpy fun."

Check it out, and please help spread the word!

Cheers,

Sarah

There's a new update to the Mindjammer Kickstarter page today, as we inch ever closer to finishing Wave 3. I'm absolutely loving how Jason Juta's visualisation of the Empire of Bright Venu for "CHILDREN OF ORION - THE VENU SOURCEBOOK" is coming along (with artwork by Jason Juta and Mark Gillespie in this artwork, and lots more to reveal!).

That's the text file for the Mindjammer Player's Guide done. Next week, on with the layout of the Core Worlds Sourcebook at last, but right now I need a lie down in a darkened room. :)

If you're waiting on emails or other comms from me, I'll be making a brief stop on planet Earth tomorrow and will be catching up. Thanks for your patience!

Hi folks - everyone here at Team Mindjammer has a question for the community! Apparently Google Earth has the facility to read sphere map images of other planets, not just earth. Now, we have sphere maps images for every planet so far published for Mindjammer (and a few that haven't been yet!), so we've been wondering if it's possible to establish a kind of central repository, both for the sphere map image files and for the data which you could input via Google Earth on key locations, names, etc.

Does anyone know if that's possible, or how it could be done, because it sounds really cool to us if we can do it and offer it as a utility for Mindjammer players and GMs. What does everyone think?

Cheers!

Sarah

The first early sparks of Mindjammer's "Gestalt Language" appear... ConLangs are great for exploring the possibilities of the language / brain development dialectic, but what AI does with the entire concept of language is fascinating - as long as we can keep the whole thing inside the petri dish and grokkable to our meatsack selves. :)

There's a great five-star review of my new novel "The Worm Within" over at Goodreads at the moment:

"What a great book! It's the story of how stagnation can run to decay, and how outside forces are needed to revitalize a dying world. It's a story about how digging into our past can help us understand it better, but can also trap us into thinking that's all that it'll ever be. It's also the start of the hero path of a young boy with a dark past, and the way he grows and influences other unlikely heroes. It's the return of the old enemy when the resistance that defeated them is at its weakest..."

Check it out! And if you've read "The Worm Within", please consider leaving a review (or even a rating) on Goodreads, Amazon, DriveThru, or wherever you like! Reviews are a writer's lifeblood - they help spread the word that a novel exists, and encourage people to pick it up and give it a whirl. Thank you!

The awesome Christopher Helton has written a fantastic review of Mindjammer Traveller (and Mindjammer in general!) over at ENWorld today. Thank you for such a great and thorough review, Chris!

"I don't think that I am stepping out onto a particularly fragile limb when I say that Mindjammer is one of the best original science fiction settings to be created in the contemporary era... If you want to play in one of the best science fiction game settings around, pick up Mindjammer...[It] should be on the bookshelves of everyone who is a fan of science fiction gaming."
