Settings, Worlds, Rules  -

I am going over a few rule changes for a particular Setting.
In this Setting it makes way more sense to "pay" for a specific kind of Stunts (let's say Cyberware to keep it simple) with mental Stress instead of Refresh.
I still want to give the player the option to get Stunts the normal way. Cyberware would only be accessible if you permanently cross of one mental Stress box.

The question now: Do you think that is balanced?

How about if the cyberware cause mental stress when used? I wrote something in that vein. Whenever you make a roll that benefits from the cyberware stunt, that roll also inflicts some form of stress (I used a humanity stress track but mental is also good)

Read more at: http://edgerunner.merttorun.com/characters/upgrades/#humanity-stress

May I also shamelessly invite you to try out Edgerunner, as the Fate meets cyberpunk game. :)

In the toolkit (or was it some blog?) I read about aspects with levels. Basically an normal aspect has a +/-2. Other aspects could be at +/-1 or +/-3.
The point was that a Character with
Vampire for /un/life (3),  Cheerleader (1) and Member of the Draculs (2)
would be very different from
Vampire for /un/life (1),  Cheerleader (3) and Member of the Draculs (2).

I very much like the Idea! It gives additional depth without being to complicated. What I am not sure about are compels.

A compel would get you the value as a -. However you still get only 1 Fatepoint.
Wouldn't be the smartest solution be to get
I do everything wrong (1), I have weaknesses and strength (2) and I am perferct (3).

Thus I can get as many Fatepoints as I want with I do everything wrong (1) while having not much of a minus for my rolls. Whereas I can use these Fatepoint whenever I want for I am perferct (3) with a 3 point + for my rolls.

Is there any way around this?

+Stefan Schloesser Well, your Trouble is supposed to be something that is harder to invoke and easy to compel, this just makes it even worse when it happens.  Your High Concept is the opposite then, it defines you, this is more powerful on an invoke.  These 2 named Aspects are already called out so you might as well use them for this, leaving all other aspects as normal.

Has anyone done a FATE Changeling: the Lost?
I am thinking FAE-ish with:

- the seasons as approaches. (mantle of the strongest one included)

- One Aspect that should describe your role for your keeper (thus replaying Seemings and Kith) and/or your keeper himself.

- A "contract with XY" stunt system. It should not really specify what it does but just explain with what the contract is.

- The LOWER your refresh is the more benefit your get from the contracts. (could work like inverse mage sphere categories).

- On the other hand all stunts costs FATE points.   Which results in strong characters who need to act according to their aspects. (kinda like DFRPG but more extreme)

Thoughts?

I think I can recall that somewhere in Fate Core something on the lines of "If a player wants to use a skill in a special way let them do it but when they do it repeatedly ask them to make it a stunt".
One of my players asked for this. Can you remember the page? I can't find it.

♦ Online RPG  -

Also per Hangout?

So erste Hürde genommen.
Will heißen voraussichtlich nächste Woche werde ich hier in der Gruppe eine Settingübersicht posten und ein paar Tage drauf nach evtl. Erstfeedback würde ich dann auch schon einen Termin für eine Hangout Runde ausklamüsern.

Just stumbled upon this due to my college:

While rather complicated I think this could be one hell of a social conflict zone map.

+Chad Juehring would make it so that the more intense the emotion the bigger the zone barrier is. So it woul be easier to climb up from  serenity to ecstasy than from terror.

As my Group keeps asking about it: Is there a "Fate Core vs FAE" Difference Sheet? Something that explains to someone who knows Core in 1-2 Pages the difference between the Versions?
