I love that they were not ironic, crass, or mean. It's just fun and goofy and reminds me of kids being lovable kids.

I should really write up my "spinoff revenue sports to be run by the booster clubs" proposal at some point.

This one is more extensive, and has some great alternatives on the gag at the bottom.

Hate is not correlated with income, education, or living with minorities. Oddly, ir does seem to be correlated with people who read a lot.

Putting child prodigies on a national stage is always, ALWAYS A bad idea.  But we keep doing it anyway.

+David Fellerath, I assume you saw this?

Izzard is one of those rare species whose comedy I could watch all day (at least until I needed a breath from laughing too hard), and also could read his serious writing all day as well.
The comedian, Crystal Palace fan and former St Bede's Prep School first XI ace explains why football can save the world • You are the Ref Christmas special

No, I hadn't seen it. Lovely reminiscence!

By the way, completely agree with your words of caution in response to those saying that Steve Schewel and others on the city council should be calling for Lopez's head.

+Liam Greenwood shared this one with me.  It's a text-driven calculator program.  I've futzed with it some, and if I have a complaint it's that the abstract and anything-goes nature of the logic progression means that it seems to get hung up on some things that I don't know how to push it through, but all in all it's a really cool idea.

Silent Pat indeed.  I had been calling him Governor Gomer, but this is better.
SilentPatwb. Irrelevancy beckons unless the Governor starts governing. There is no single personality-type that makes for an effective chief executive in government. Some good leaders are sober and methodical and some bark orders and shoot from the hip. Some tell bad jokes and love slapping ...

Finally got around to reading this, and sorry I missed the talks.  I think Alperovitz is right on with this line of thinking.
