The Qouch, an online publication of The Queer Psychoanalysis Society, is looking for short articles and digital media projects for an on-going series on “The Screen”. We are interested in exploring the various functions of the concept of the screen from film theory and media studies to psychoanalytic concepts of “screen memory” and “projection” as they relate to modern theories and practices of gender and sexuality.

Story
Introduction
Chase Dimock defended his dissertation in September for his PhD in Comparative and World Literature with a graduate minor in Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Illinois. He specializes in 20th century global modernisms and American, French, and German literature with an emphasis in Queer Theory, Feminism and psychoanalysis. As a Graduate Assistant, he has taught courses on western literature spanning the ancients to the existentialists as well as courses on gender studies, queer literature, European cultural politics, and representations of the Holocaust. His dissertation, “Queer American Expatriate Writers in France and the Birth of the Gay Modernist Subject” synthesizes a never before written history of  interwar queer sexualities in the works of lost and forgotten American expatriate authors. His study examines how the established French canon of gay authors and French lgbt culture influenced the construction of an American gay community and identity.

An article spun off from this study on Robert McAlmon has been published in the book Paris in American Literatures. His academic articles on modern world writers Kurban Said, Yoko Tawada, and Gale Wilhelm will be published in two forthcoming anthologies and in the journal College Literature. Chase  is also a regular contributor to the arts and politics magazine As It Ought To Be,  and The Lambda Literary Review, and his poetry criticism has been published in Modern American Poetry. He is a co-editor of the online journal The Qouch, which publishes articles and creative work on the intersection of queer studies and psychoanalysis.
