On the world record. it would be worth finding out if it was on the old ROMs or the new ones. The old ones had a bug on the maze with the hand that turns off the reactor. In the old ROMS, you turn off the hand, set off the reactor, and as you are running out of the maze, you turn the hand back on, and exit before the hand hits the reactor. The result is that the wave ends, but the hand shuts off the reactor, so the game thinks you are still on the same level. Anything you killed with shields (or died on) stays dead, so you can, with shields, clear the maze. Then, you can play this wave over and over to earn multiple lives and lots of points. The new ROMs close the door when the had is activated, so you cannot leave if you do that trick.

I was not happy with the upgrade kit either. There are two things that make the upgrade Tempest not work as well. One is the spinner, which, at times, could be spun too fast and you miss some of the data. And the system is a bit slower, so the game plays slightly slower too, and it changes the timing. The second issue you can get used to. But playing with the roller is SOOOO much better for the game.

Thanks for these comments. I had a great time when it came to adding details to the character. You missed one though. Leave him standing on the top of a wall (a straight up segment) and he will start to lose his balance. I wanted to make him fall, but we felt that would be unfair.
