Went for happy hour after work. Usually go to the shadyside location and the difference was dramatic. No fajitas on the menu, inattentive staff and the place was DARK as a cave. At least it was happy hour.

The drinks are good (try the ginger mule), but the food is mediocre. The ONLY thing worth eating there are the wings (San Fran flavor). I've given their food multiple tries and it's too bland.

The Original Mad Mex, found deep in the heart of Pittsburgh's South Oakland neighborhood. Frequented by students because of their great happy hour specials that include half off draft beer and wings. Dark and not very large, it is best to get here early if you would like a seat at the bar.

In a town where the average review comprises something along the lines of "food:good, decor:good, service:terrible", it's a welcomed surprise to find a place that challenges the norm. The food was wonderful and the service gave me new found hope for the service industry of Pittsburgh. Thank you, Mark.

I've never grown tired of this place after many, many, visits over the years. There's an extensive beer list to be experienced, along with a bevy of interesting margarita options (go for grapefruit!). Be sure that you're not looking for authentic Mexican. This is not the place. 'Mex's SoCal take on tex-mex is downright delicious, and always good for a leftover meal or two. Give their Thai burrito a try. It's a unique flavor combination, but somehow works!
