Although yesterday's response was a little disappointing, here's the second mobile responsiveness test. It's vital that these are okay before the upgrade is rolled out site-wide.

Please test this link in all of your browsing devices and check that what you see is pretty much the same as what's in the sample pictures below:
https://www.historyfiles.co.uk/microsite_live/FeaturesAmericas/NorthNative_Compendium01.htm

Again, please report anything that looks odd, and also give details of your device and the version number you can see at the top of the page (on most devices). You can email device details if you'd rather not make them public, but the information is very useful for the rebuild work.

Something a little different today - responsive testing for a full site rebuild.

The History Files needs your help to make sure that the first of a few test pages still looks good on a normal desktop display but also fits into a mobile display.

Please click on the following link on your mobile device:
https://www.historyfiles.co.uk/microsite_live/FeaturesAmericas/CentralMesoamerica_Connections01.htm

Does the screen display look like one of the screenshots below? Can you spot something that looks wrong? Is it okay in portrait AND landscape views?

Finally, please report back with the name and type of your mobile device, plus the version number that you can see at the top of the page (both portrait and landscape versions please). Your help will be invaluable in deciding how responsive the site is for years to come!

According to the Greeks and Romans, Dardania was a client state of Troy's, but the information relating to its leaders comes from traditional Greek sources with no external confirmation (full page upgrade):

Turkic origins are hard to pin down precisely, but the region around the Altai Mountains would seem to have served as a general incubator during their development (brand new map):

The Avars were relatively late arrivals in the west, having been pushed - or escaping - to the north-eastern coast of the Caspian Sea by the mid-fifth century AD while other Turkic groups such as the Bulgars, Onogurs, and Sabirs were already consolidating their grip on the Pontic-Caspian steppe and were integrating with the local Slavic population (brand new page):

Happy New Year from a fully secure and verified #History Files! The first publication for 2019 covers Gwent in what is now southern Wales, which evolved as a combination of the former Ewyas and an extension of territory to the west (section upgrade):

The Nezak are much harder to pin down than the other Xionite groups but, seeing as the Alchons were heavily involved in Hephthalite efforts to conquer northern India, there is a chance that the Nezak were of the same stock (brand new page):

The Alchons are a relatively new introduction into the historiography of eastern Iran, usually being associated with the Hephthalites until more recent research allowed their history to be put together in a more coherent fashion that was independent of the Hephthalites (brand new page):
