Is ROI Anti-Social?
For businesses, revenue is definitely important. But, except for the numbers that go into determining ROI, there is no other number aside from ROI that is as much of an indicator on business profitability and success when considering expenditures. I have heard that ROI and social media don't mix. ROI is not "anit- Social". See my blog http://bit.ly/1OFIJn6

Is There A Return on Investment (ROI) for Digital Marketing?

Do you want to know how well the money you are spending on websites, web presence and search marketing is impacting your bottom line?  After all, knowing this helps to make a business profitable, guides better business decisions, and tracks efforts to the bottom line.  Is the impact negligible, a little, good or great?  Is there a digital marketing return on investment?  Here’s how you can tell. http://bit.ly/1KW4Tj8

I HATE THIS STUFF!!

I am a techie. It just comes naturally to me. But, my wife is not quite so. A very elegant and intelligent lawyer, she is just not into technical stuff. She was forced to dump her Blackberry and buy a "smartphone". On my recommendation, she purchased a Samsung Galaxy s5. Like my iPhone 6, it's a great smartphone. But, she has been perplexed, frustrated and angry (a lot aimed at me) as her learning curve decreases in slope. Her words exactly, "I HATE THIS STUFF!". Her status quo has been disturbed. Things necessary for performing her business efficiently are changing so fast that she has to pay way more attention to them than she has time for; and it's a distraction that requires her to learn more than she ever wanted to know about "smartphones". Well, I don't tell her; but, I love this stuff. I just help her as requested (we've been married awhile).
But, listen, if you and/or others in your leadership team hate the fact that technology, market uses of technology and the growth of new game changing methodologies are changing your status quo, you are already behind the crest of the wave. In fact, you are heading for trouble in your business. The smartphone is an example. I recently read an article by Felix Richter of Statista in which he highlights Cisco's Visual Networking Index's data indicating smartphone traffic is set to grow from 1.74 exabyte per month in 2014 to more than 18 exabyte per month in 2019 (an exabyte is 1 billion gigabytes). Further, Cisco estimates that smartphones will account for 75% of mobile traffic in 2019. To me, because I love this stuff, this is great. Changes that makes our lives and businesses better excite me.

But, what does this one example mean for your business? It means that if you are not involved in mobile marketing, adapting your internet presence to be "smartphone" friendly, your business is behind the crest of the wave. And, your competitors who are, will more than likely have an edge on you in the near future. Mobile marketing, especially smartphone friendly mobile marketing, is well worth your investment. Advertising and marketing brings us customers and clients. As leaders, you must be comfortable with and knowledgeable about the changes in areas that bring you customers. Adapting to the increased use of smartphones is not only smart, it's the crest of the wave in digital marketing.
