Simply put it is straight up for tourists. Overpriced, underwhelming, douchey crowd; Music sucks, food is average, if that. There are just far too many places in New York with a better steak, friendlier environment, and an equal or better view, at a quarter of the price for STK to be as hyped up as it is. I'm not cheap but at their prices I expect a lovely, quality dining experience their staff treats you as if you should feel honored to simply be there. Convinced people only go for instagram pictures, and to say they were at STK; Real New Yorkers know better.

NYE is a complete scam. You still have to pay for coat check, no NYE favours/garb, drinks aren't really free, no food as advertized, and the DJ pretty much sucked. I went back because I had lost an item and the hostesses I met with were so rude! They were talking about me and other customers right in front of me. The food at the restaurant may be good, but customer service at the restaurant sucks and nobody genuinely wanted to help. Too bad.

I would say the food was 3.5 stars. The company and ambiance kicked it up a notch. I enjoyed the skirt steak better than the ribeye and enjoyed the sides.

Bring your fake D&C sunglasses and polish your Adidas because when you attend the STK Rooftop you're going to want to look your best. This trendy rooftop dining affords great views of the Highline Park which 50% of your party will love. The other 50% will be facing the fashionistas and young hipsters recovering from the previous night out. Don't let the $16 price tag stop you from ordering a bloody marry. Sure it comes in a plastic cup but at least it doesn't come with any of that annoying traditional flare like olives and celery. In fact the only glass or decoration you'll find comes in the form a beer glass which is good because we don't want to distract from the amazingly designed deck which includes custom furniture direct from China's finest manufacturers. The same applies when ordering food. The $19 burger doesn't come with anything fancy and won't amaze your taste buds. This would distract you from looking good. Want fries with that? Add $12 for the least truffled truffle fries in NY, but they are neatly stacked like lincoln logs which definitely takes the kitchen a bit more time. They're so neatly organized you may not want to eat them and, in fact, you shouldn't because the flavor will never meet your expectations given the price tag. But again, STK isn't about the food it's about the view and the experience. A key part of the experience is the service, or rather, the servers. Most are aspiring models which is immediately obvious when you see them stride around with head high and shoulders back. They're wonderful to watch and you should definitely base your tip on their visual performance only. If you do have the opportunity to interact with one of them you must be ready to order efficiently because you may not get a second chance. It would be rude of you to disrupt their concentration while they're attempting to carry drinks in high heals. All of this walking around and the few chances to interact with them will lead to a longer than normal meal time so be sure to pack the sun screen as you'll be baking in the midday sun. I personally recommend an oversized Derby hat to show off a bit more style. Expect to show ID to the bouncer before entering for brunch. Yes, brunch. Because, that's why cool people do, right? In short, this place is a great spot to observe the trendy and tasteless with new money and little culture. It's the nightclub of brunch spots where guests are used to paying too much for too little just to say they did. STK should really charge a $50 admission fee and offer a breakfast buffet. The service and food are sure to improve and they might even turn tables faster.

I came here with a Gilt City voucher that included a dinner for 2. The place was very cozy since there was a fireplace. Instead of the usual bread basket, we were given pull apart dinner rolls with parsley butter. It was so good that I had to stop myself from asking for another basket. Then, we got the seafood tower appetizer which had a selection of really fresh seafood: king crab, oysters, shrimp cocktail, and tuna tartare. I love that it came with a variety of sauces including small bottles of Tabasco sauce which was a nice touch. We got a porterhouse steak with bernaise sauce along with asparagus and parmesan fries. The sides were not memorable but the steak was cooked perfectly. I liked the bernaise sauce, it wasn't too heavy. We also got cocktails that were pretty good, not too sweet. All in all, I had a lovely dinner and maybe I'll come back to check out their rooftop.

Not the place to go for New Years!! WOW Such a let down for the sky high prices 1st of all there is NO Wifi and NO dance floor! (Crazy) The crowd lacks diversity (be prepared for 60% drunk sloppy females) and the seating was terrible! We had VIP tickets and they were letting in general admission people before us! All that money for VIP ULTRA and they sat us BY THE KITCHEN! It was so damn busy people kept bumping our table the whole night! And guess what happened? A Drunk stupid bitch KNOCKED OVER OUR ENTIRE TABLE with not even so much as a "sorry" Whole bottle of champagne just destroyed! Management did nothing about it! Also forget about the NYE menu they advertize to sell the tickets! That was a LIE, There were no Truffle fries, no shrimp, none of half of what they said was going to be there and forget about the deserts they advertized! There was no dessert at all! This was such a waste of money and a huge disappointment! I felt like I got scammed! The DJ was not that great either, he never plays the whole song! When your song comes on you get maybe 1 min of it smh! This place was a shit show, very disorganized and it was boring up until 11PM. Also they separate you from your guest for that coat check BS and you cant really find your seat after you do it! I then found out that as SOON as you get to the table they slap you with a $50+ Gratuity charge and demand that you pay it before you can even have your first sip or actually have your group all at the table (SO GHETTO!) I could have had a great time somewhere else for less than half of what I spent on those tickets! I will never go back there again for NYE and I would not suggest it at all unless you like having all your pricy drinks knocked over by a bunch of skanky rude drunk females. Management should be ashamed! if you even bring up to them that there is an issue they dont do anything about it anyway. The answer is always no or sorry smh. WHY the hell would you line the path to the kitchen with seats for NYE and think that was a good idea?? Those seats were too damn expensive to be so terrible! I swear that + No Wifi + No Dance floor + my entire table being knocked over + them not having the menu I specifically chose them for... NEVER AGAIN!

STK Downtown is a dimly lit, restaurant/lounge with a wood burning fireplace and swanky, nightclub feel to it. The hostess is really friendly and warm and the bartender was great at keeping up with the crowd. I would recommend this place for a ladies night out.

me and my friends (group of 4 swiss guys) went out for dinner in STK on saturday evening. we had a table reservation but had to wait for 30 min. that was no problem because we enjoyed fine drinks at the bar. we had some starters and then the most of us the porterhouse which was very delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. the high price was worth the food but it was so loud, that we couldn't have a normal conversation.
