I just wrote this for my Wise Attention blog:
What is Shakespeare’s Wisdom and how does it match up to the Buddha's? In this article I explore Shakespeare's Richard II as a play about belief and identity, which are core concerns of Buddhism, and suggest parallels between Shakespeare's insights and those of the Buddha

China will soon possess the world’s largest economy, and cultural influence will follow economic power. Martin Jaques argues in his book ‘When China Rules the World’ that this change will shape the next century. But what does it mean for the future of Buddhism?

New research shows that teenage cannabis use causes lasting damage. As well as the physiological damage, Buddhism suggests that drugs are  about avoiding experience rather than engaging with mindfully with it

I didn't find the "no true Scotsman" discussion very enlightening. I wouldn't want to get into the "real meditation" debate, because I don't think there's a valid distinction to be made there. All I said was that we didn't know what he was doing or whether it even vaguely resembled any traditional form of Buddhist meditation. It's possible he was doing some kind of "bare attention" which can sometimes deaden the emotions, but we just don't know. It's more likely that he was simply cultivating hatred and slapping the label "meditation" on it, in which case his actions really say nothing about meditation as practiced by non-psychopaths.
