Google's changes mean improvements for the end user, but it also makes it much more important for website owners to use semantic markup and lots of relevant media and data.

Google just announced its Knowledge Graph. It's another step away from raw keywords (without knowing what those words really mean) toward understanding things in the real-world and how they relate to each other. The knowledge graph improves our ability to understand the intent of a query so we can give better answers and search results.

What is the best time to spam people?

I meant to say "marketing promotions," aka email marketing. :)

This is a very interesting table. It seems the highest click-through rates are in the very early morning or late in the night. What is fascinating is that while only 2% of the volume was in the night. 2000 - 2400 hrs, every other number is hugely positive, including Average Order Size.

Lesson: Get to your best customers after they've had dinner but not before they've fallen asleep, while they are likely on their iPad!

Page 11 of this report is quite fascinating as well. The shelf life of an email campaign is shorter, and shorter, and shorter.

Some nice features in the new version of Wordpress (Green Release) - including better integration with Twitter, and easy theme customisations.

+Mark Mayne +Sam Rutley Seeing my site is custom should I update as normal (disable plugins first etc) or should an expert do it in case something snaps?

Thoughts from Michael Thornton on Channel 4s documentary last night. I've not watched it myself yet but going to catch up this evening because it sounds like it's worth a watch.

Lots of restrictions for Google+ Pages for business...

5 Cool Tips You Should Know About Google+ Pages

1. You Can +1 a Page to Show Support or Add Them to Your Circles

We know you love some brands and businesses. Others you may want to show a quick note of support, but not see all their updates. So just drop a little +1 and keep going, or add a page to any circle you want. You're in control.

2. No Google+ Page Can Follow You Until You Follow Them

We want Google+ to be a place you love to share. Pages cannot circle you until you follow them first. Of course, if you are in their circles, they can share great deals, exclusive coupons, product tips and hangouts, but the relationship is yours to start.

3. In Fact, Google+ Pages Can't Even Mention You Unless You're Connected

That's right. The +Google+ page can't even say your name unless you're following. No +mention spam.

4. Google+ Pages Automatically Unfollow You If You Unfollow Them

If you remove a Google+ Page from your circles, you are automatically removed from their circles. You always are in charge.

5. You Can Find Google+ Pages In Google Search

With a new feature we call Direct Connect, just type + followed by the brand name in Google Search, and you can see pages automatically display. Type +Pepsi to see Pepsi, and +Dell for Dell. It's that easy.

We're very excited about the great work we've seen with Google+ Pages so far. So many amazing companies are here, and you can see from all the work we've done that we want your experience on Google+ to remain a fantastic one.

Jayme takes the time to explore the best options and explains them well (outlining all benefits and risks) - he used the latest techniques, and customised the process to allow almost undetectable orthodontic work. In my case, he used lingual braces (on the back side of your teeth), then refined the alignment with a clear plastic brace and finished with a permanent retaining wire to prevent future movement. I'm really happy with the result, and the process was quick, painless and unobtrusive.

I did my MSc Marketing here. It's a good University, with passionate teachers and good links to businesses. The grounds are very green, and the facilities are excellent. The campus is close to Manchester and there's plenty of reasonable accomodation nearby.
