I feel like they used to have more delicious options on the happy hour menu. Still yummy apps and drinks.

I don't give five stars easily, but this restaurant has earned it. The food is well prepared and perfectly seasoned. I have tried a variety of items on the menu and everything has been excellent. The atmosphere is warm and beautiful. The staff is attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. My wife and I love this restaurant and will certainly be back again soon. We recently celebrated our anniversary there and it was a perfect night out.

Found the spot by just walking around with my boyfriend and decided to sit at the bar for a few drinks and appetizer. The bartender, I think his name was Brent or was the bar manager, was amazing! His cocktails were mixed to perfection and his experimental drinks were on point. The meatballs appetizer was to good and made my boyfriend like olives for the first time. Brent and the restaurant manager that day are a lively pairing that makes you feel like you are at home. I will definitely be recommending the place to any guests staying at my hotel and coming back myself!

Seems that Volterra is no great secret, that everyone knows already about the restaurant... everyone, that is, but me. Until now. Located on a well-traveled, well-heeled street in Ballard, locals beat a path to Volterra, so the restaurant gets quite busy at times. Reservations recommended. We arrived off hours, and were seated almost immediately. Everyone was eating heartily, so we said to heck with our diets and dug in. For appetizers, we ordered the... 1. Roasted Beet and Arugula Salad (Insalata di Bietole). The arugula was satisfyingly fresh and had the bite you expect from intense greens. The colorful beet combo and vinaigrette offered a delicious yin-yang of sweet, tangy, and peppery (arugula). 2. Oil Soup (Zuppa all’ Olio della Villa Otium), a generous serving of creamy, flavorful cannellini and pork. The EVOO drizzled as a finish, along with crunchy, large croutons, make it a filling meal. But only for diners with smaller appetites than mine! For entrees, we enjoyed... 1. Pappardelle with Lamb Ragu. The house made egg noodles are amazing. Served al dente, with creamy lamb ragu and a nice balance of pecorino cheese. 2. Thin Spaghetti with Prawns (Spaghettini coi Gamberi). Perfectly al dente pasta with a light but flavorful sauce. The basil and chili heighten and warm this pasta dish. Prawns were firm, not overcooked. One caveat: Volterra suffered an invasion of fruit flies or gnats the day we were there. No idea the cause or even whether an ephemeral problem. Nonetheless, we will return soon - heck, I miss already that yummy oil soup!

Ambiance was great. Service good. Oil soup was good. Crispy chicken very good. Pasta was very average to below average. Wine was okay--could be better if it were not so warm, warm wine is not good...

I don't understand why the interior is so bland, but I can't argue with the food on my plate. They turn it out. Ossobuco, baby. Lamb shank for days. Saltimbocca. Have your parent's friends take you here. Eat meat.
