Got a chance to see the upcoming Alienware Alpha again, it's a $549 gaming PC designed like a console, with a custom interface that works with a game pad and hides Windows 8. I was dubious, but now I really want to test drive one.
Everything you need to know about the Alienware Alpha, including impressions and analysis, photos, video, release date, prices, specs, and predictions from CNET.

Making small performance trade-offs to fit into a slim, attractive 17-inch body, the MSI GS70 Stealth is a gaming laptop for those who hate the look of gaming laptops.

An incredibly simple app brings in a million dollar investment. Is a tech bubble about to burst?

Forget the new stuff -- there was a huge collection of vintage games and gear, plus some very rare prototypes, on display at E3 this week.
A collection of classics, home game consoles to full-size arcade machines to advertising and merchandising material, plus a few ultra-rare prototypes.

There actually is some PC gaming news at E3 -- Dell got tired of waiting for Steam OS and flipped its Steam Machine into the Windows-only Alienware Alpha.

The key selling point of the new ThinkPad 10, a 10-inch Windows 8 tablet, is not the tablet hardware itself, but the large ecosystem of optional accessories, designed to turn the slate into a laptop, desktop, or even a display kiosk.

The small speed bump and added RAM make this a modest improvement over the 2013 version, but it's essentially the same machine. As that Retina MacBook Pro received a very strong recommendation as an excellent all-around premium powerhouse, this updated version does, too, even if anyone looking for the next big thing from Apple will be disappointed that this "new" Mac isn't really all that new.
While the small updates to the 2014 model aren't enough for most existing users to upgrade, Apple's excellent 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro is still our go-to laptop of choice for shoppers at the high end.

Is Apple's new $1,099 iMac worth it? We tested one, and it's basically a MacBook Air in desktop form, so I'd say it's a good way to get that cool design if you're mostly going to surf the web on it.
While it includes some performance and graphics concessions on the lowest priced model, the 21.5-inch iMac brings Apple's iconic design and top-notch bundled accessories and software to a wider audience.

After writing about PC gaming at E3, I finally got around to testing this 14-inch Maingear Pulse. Basically, if you've got $2K to spend on a smaller gaming laptop, by all means get the awesome Razer Blade. If you've got $1,200 or so, this is a pretty decent compromise, and it's been upgraded to a 1080p screen.
You could spend an additional $1,000 and get a superslim 14-inch gaming laptop that would be the envy of your friends, but the Maingear Pulse 14 is just portable enough and has decent specs for the price.

While the new Surface Pro 3 is Microsoft's best PC to date, it's more successful as a tablet than a laptop replacement.

Wow, comments on CNET are vicious. I thought you wrote a well-balanced review and it was pretty thorough considering how quickly it came out. I hope y'all do a deep review later. But I guess people who like MS stuff will like it and people people who don't won't. I would like to read about an experience switching from a MS laptop to the new Surface.

But there's a silver lining: buy the PC/Mac version now, and transfer your character to consoles later for $20.

Story
Introduction
When he's not recording jazz/funk-infused indie music, New York native Dan Ackerman is a former radio DJ turned journalist and has covered music, games, and tech for Men's Journal, SPIN, and other publications.

Dan's fourth album release is the bossa-nova-tinged 'The Futurist.' Inspired by his love for classic Brazilian jazz, from Antonio Carlos Jobim to Sergio Mendes, the album lays bossa beats over indie jazz rock, with plenty of Rhodes organs and funky basslines.

Dan is currently a Senior Editor at CNET.com and a semi-regular TV talking head on outlets including Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC News, BBC News and CBS News.
