Check out my interview with novelist Mark Rubinstein, in which I ask him about his new and upcoming crime novels. We also talk about his earlier experiences as a co-author of medical books -- the nuts-and-bolts process of collaborating on books with other experts. (Bonus: Rubinstein is a Connecticut-based author -- props to my home state.)

Do you have something to promote online? Learn how to perfect your pitching skills in this 20-page guide, now $8.95.

I created this guide to train book publicists in the art of pitching to bloggers, but the information contained within it can benefit anyone and can be applied to any social networking endeavor -- Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Quora, and more.

This eBook is perfect for beginners or for anyone who struggles with writing an effective pitch letter. Two sample letters are included, and you have my permission to adapt them for your own campaigns.

This article is actually more about possible impending Google changes that affect SEO than it is about authors (changes that to me, seem pretty minor; you probably won't have to change a thing if you're doing it right in the first place -- except, maybe, getting a G+ page).

You're in luck if you write for a WP driven site that uses that authorship plugin, otherwise, yea - I can see that taking a while to implement & I'm sure there will be a time when this sort of stuff floods the search engine pages and becomes less relevant.

An interesting infographic sent to me by a client. I agree with almost everything on here.
If you’ve read this blog for some time, you know that I despise rules. Social media is still very young so applying rules at this point still seems premature. The folks at FastCompany are putting together quite a collection o...

Stay sane! Stop measuring so many things! (Or, Why Overdosing on Analytics Is Not Always a Good Idea)

(Props to +Jean Egan for being the design and code arm of the project cited in this post.)
One of the things we like to emphasize in our business, and with our clients, is simplicity. What you need to measure, ultimately, should be dictated by your three most important goals. Restricting yo...

Introduction
I am a writer and communications consultant living in Los Angeles.

After many years working in and around the field of small press book marketing, in 2012 I made the transition into ghostwriting. My first book, a nonfiction health title, was published in early 2013.

This short guide is a starting place for beginners who need to learn how to network and promote themselves or their products online. Publicist Cindy Rakowitz, the CEO of Blackman Rakowitz Public Relations, called it "a must read. . . perfectly written in clear, concise, simple language."

In addition to ghostwriting, I provide the following services:
  • Developmental editing - books, articles, resumes, biographical statements
  • Copywriting & SEO copywriting - website copy, ads, brochures, book marketing materials (digital and print ads, cover copy, descriptions and synopses
Subject areas of expertise:
  • Nonfiction, how-to, self-help, memoir
  • Business, management
  • Entertainment industry, popular culture
  • Family history
  • Health, public health, popular science, psychology
  • Humor
  • Writing and creativity
  • Productivity
Current projects:
  • Developmental editing and writing coaching for a business book author
  • Platform building, social media strategy consultations, and SEO consulting for authors, therapists, and physicians
Miscellaneous Interests:

Banjo, creative writing (personal essay, poetry, fiction, screenplays), hiking and the outdoors, travel, vegetable gardening
