I am not usually impressed by restaurants, since my husband is a chef-de-cuisine. But this place touched me in ways I've rarely experienced before. The decor is pleasant and tasteful, and even on this cold snowy night it was cozy inside. The waitstaff is well-informed and helpful (but not obsequious). The wine--a lovely white Saumur--provided a fresh complement to the meal, which was divine. I had Thick-cut bacon and white corn polenta with a healthy and refreshing portion of argula on top. I thought it might be heavy and too much food, but it was amazingly light, comforting, and delicious. Five stars all around!

I've likened this to Lula Cafe grown up, but that's not really fair to either place. The decor here is great, both inside and out. The food on their rotating menu is always interesting, and mostly great (but there have been some misses.) I enjoy the cocktails here as well. Here's a tip: if you're a party of 2, don't be afraid to sit in back, next to the kitchen. It's fascinating to see the chef/cooks at work. They may even surprise you with a taste of something.

Nightwood is a gem in Pilsen. It has the great food of Girl and the Goat without having to wait 6 months for an opening (although, I think that's picking up). The food is unique and the menu changes. The drinks could use some work, more options including classics. But overall, it's extremely unique and still has that hidden restaurant charm.

Nightwood is simply wonderful. I went here for dinner during the summer with my wife and sat out on the patio. It was a great atmosphere, and the spit-roasted pork loin I had was among the best pork I've eaten. The drink list is also interesting and features some great options. We also went inside to take a look at the kitchen, which is basically open for diners to view. As as silly as this sounds, I even like that the toilet there is black. You just don't see that a lot of places. And, of course, sealing the deal is that the service was great, very helpful.

Love this place. It has lovely welcoming decor, which you'll notice right when you walk in. The food is impeccably prepared rustic seasonal fare. If you're visiting Pilsen or not its PERFECT. The service is great and again the food is top-notch.

Now let me tell me, disappointing....sad right?! I've had better foie grais at Au Cheval. Portion size was ri-di-culous. I mean I get it, fancy new restaurant in Pilsen trying to make a name, but c'mon! Confession, I stopped at McDonald's after spending almost $300 for 4 people. No cool Nightwood, not cool. Take my advice, spend your money elsewhere...
