Pursuing happiness in design graduate school. Is it possible?
So to say that I or my peers have been busy over the past year is a huge understatement. We have quickly learned that pursuing a graduate degree in landscape architecture is very...very intense. Will Smith acted in a great movie with his son numerous years ago. The Pursuit of Happiness. My wife and I LOVE this movie. It gets at the heart of achievement and perseverance and hope and struggle and trials and the list goes on and on. Here's...

Ending some, starting others. Changes at my website.
I have enjoyed writing Landscape Architecture Project (LAP) reviews for my webpage over the past year. I have also enjoyed writing the first two LAP’s for my Italy travels. I have decided to discontinue this portion of my website so that I can focus on my writing responsibilities at Landscape Architects Network (LandArchs.com). I guess I can’t do everything I want that’s out there. I still plan to write in my Blog, despite its recent ...

Feeling very humbled today to be selected as one of four candidates to serve as student representative to the the American Society of Landscape Architects Board of Trustees. Voting takes place nationwide this and next week within each student ASLA chapter. You can read more here in this release. Big thanks goes out to my local college ASLA chapter for their initial support.

Spring Studio works.
This past semester (Spring 2014) I and my studio-mates had the wonderful opportunity to work with Harmony Adoptions an organization which focuses on connecting families with children through adoption. They have an extremely high success rate of placement and are doing some wonderful programs and counseling in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains just outside of Maryville, TN. This was a very serendipitous opportunity as my previou...

College of Architecture and Design | Art + Architecture Building 1715 Volunteer Boulevard Room 224. Knoxville ,TN 37996. United States. larc

Came to stay here after we had a tree fall on our house. Made reservations on the phone and indicated we would be staying for multiple days. My pregnant wife with three children in tow arrived before I could get out of school. Multiple hours before I could arrive she was turned away by the desk lady and denied entry into our room because I had the debit card. I had already payed for the room. With no where to go and no money on her they made her sit and wait for me to arrive. This is terrible service and I will never go here again. The young girl behind the counter had no concept of 'customer service' and in no way went out of her way to accomodate us and our situation. Facilities were ok. Service, not so much. Would not recommend staying here.
