Well since people still are adding this account to their circles, I decided to change my profile photo to make it more obvious also in thumbnails and once again emphasize that I have now officially switched to my other G+ profile, +Fredrik Ax (https://plus.google.com/106161963224691659288/about).
Please follow that one instead!

The reason for keeping this profile open is for the sake of the old posts (pre March 10 2013), but I will no longer actively use it and make new posts using it.

If Google keeps to the schedule I'll be kind of unavailable for about two days starting at 15:20 CET today (Sunday March 10):

"During the transfer, you have limited functionality on Google+ in both accounts. Neither account will be able to do the following:

* Share content on Google+
* Add or remove people to and from circles
* Block or ignore people

People who have added these account profiles to their circles won't be able to add, remove, block or ignore these profiles during the transfer. Transfers typically take about 48 hours."
He, he ... I'm a Blue Head!

... and soon (in a few weeks) you will have this blue-head in your circles ... well if you have me now at least, which you probably have if you read this ... and I'll hopefully have a profile picture by then :-)

Sounds strange ... well it isn't really ... ahhh ok, maybe a ittle.

I've moved my domain to Google Apps, and, since I saw that you now can transfer your G+ presence (circles and followers),  will use an account there as my primary Google account instead of this one. It's a slightly complicated process that you need to convince Google is the right thing to do :-)

Firstly you apply for your G+ account to be moved.
Then you wait one week, throughout which you should consider if you really, really want this.
Then Google locks your account for two days during which they will move the data and "recircle" people pointing them to the new account instead.

Interesting that this should be so complicated :-)

... and well, moving all other Google services are quite complicated too ... I yet don't even know if I, for instance, can transfer my already, in Google Play, bought Android apps to the new account, or if I in the future will need to have two Google accounts synced to all my mobile devices.

New G+ Look!
Woho, got a New G+ look when logged in with my apps account (but not with my standard account).
At a first glance it looks good.
Somebody else that have gotten this yet?

This app seems to be working very well (at least as far as I can tell from installing and quickly testing it on my sister in law's iPhone) to get the full Google Talk functionality with chat, voice, video and most importantly notifications on IOS devices. Every one sticking to iPhones ought to have it installed so I can contact them freely from Gmail, G+, and Android :) No more paid SMS Texts or even ordinary voice or video calls required even between platforms :)

Blanda dig i diskussionerna här. Är du själv aktiv kommer du att få stort gensvar och det är då G+ verkligen är som bäst!

Next step in killing the picasaweb interface?

A (long) while back +Google removed the link to picasaweb in their top-nav-bar that they provide at every google site, but you could still go to picasaweb with the direct link. Accessing that URL, a couple of days back, I all of a sudden instead ended up in the G+ Photos Web-UI, accessing that link (with a link in a notifier still allowing me to go to the picasaweb interface). Pretty annoying!

... and even more annoyingly, everybody can see that this is the next step in removing the picasaweb-interface all together. That's really fine by me, IF and only IF  the same, or better, functionality was provided through the G+ interface, which it is not!

I WANT TO KEEP PICASAWEB ... or an, at least, as good interface in G+ (same fuctionality AT LEAST)! Switching UI is alright on a free service, as long as I get to keep the data, but providing one level of functionality, replacing it with something less is not!

62 Circles ...

I've been (re)organizing and (re)ordered my 62 remaining G+ circles (I just ditched a few)!

I know all my circles, or at least their names, more or less by heart, but ever since the new G+ UI was introduced (the current one in it's first iteration, back when  everybody complained about the unused white space on larger screens, and as I see it worse, that the circle bar to the left disappeared  and was replaced with the top bar for circles), I have been reordering my circles constantly putting the ones I, for the moment, tend to use most first, to make them show in the limited top bar. Before that, I had them alphabetically sorted, but now they where in some seemingly random order, so even if I know which circles I have, I have had a hard time finding them in scroll-lists, etc.

I have also started to use the circles slightly differently than I did before (partly due to the limited number of visible ones, and partly due to the introduction of communities. I used to actively post to interest circles for different topics, but those posts most often end up in some community now instead. The posts I do in English outside communities, nowadays, most often are public, and what I post in Swedish I often share with one out of two large circles containing Scandinavians, one with people that are interested in Tech in some way and the other (overlapping) one with people interested in Social Networking. Some posts I aim at all Scandinavians in my circles.

Sure, the rest of the circles are good to have to organize the ones I follow, but in practice I would, for posting purposes, probably just need 5 circles or so.

Also on the topic of reading, the communities have somewhat invalidated the need for interest-circles. But I currently have close to 2400 people in my circles, many of them posting very actively, whilst others does not post so often but when they do I don't want their posts to be flushed away in the flood of the main stream or my larger circles. Thus, I feel I still need to split the ones I follow up a bit for reading purposes.

I therefore kept 62 of my circles. They are of two types (or really three) and the factors defining them are:

1. Interest (what are the people interested to read about, and what kind of posts are included in their streams)

2. How I'm connected to the people outside G+ (Old friends, colleagues from former and current workplaces, new friends that I found via G+, people I met via sports and hobbies, etc, etc)

(3. Language - really if the persons do understand Swedish or not.)

Some circles are obviously based on combinations of the criteria and most circles are overlapping, sharing people with several other circles.

I now have sorted them in some kind of (il?)logical way that makes sense to me, and that I believe will make me able to quickly scroll to, and find, the circles I need when I need them. Am I extreme in my circle frenzy, or do you guys also have (too) many circles?

How many circles do you have?

Based on which criteria do you populate and organize them?

In which way do you have them ordered?
