HELP! Upgrade to 13.10 failed. The upgrade got stuck on installing new packages. The upgrade was only supposed to be 2hrs but 10 hrs later it still wasn't complete. I checked computer info and it said it was on 13.10 so I tried to reboot but the power icon disappeared. I cycled power and it comes up on terminal with a filesystem check error "mount failed".

Does anyone have a solution for this and how can I restart the upgrade?

I'm finally in. For some reason it would just hang when trying to select network in the recovery menu so I had to use the mount -o remoint,rw / command as suggested by +Alexey Bogomazov then I used apt-get install -f as recommended by +Thomas David and it rebuilt the needed files. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Google makes another acquisition. It will be interesting to see how it's incorporated.

Welcome Nik Software!

Today I’m excited to welcome +Nik Software to the Google family! We want to help our users create photos they absolutely love, and in our experience Nik does this better than anyone. Check out the examples from some of the world’s greatest photographers, and you’ll see what I mean.

This week we also hit an important milestone--over 400,000,000 people have upgraded to Google+. It was only a year ago that we opened public sign-up, and we couldn’t have imagined that so many people would join in just 12 months. While Google+ is all about creating a better experience across Google, it’s also a destination. And here too, I’m happy to report that we have just crossed 100,000,000 monthly active users on Google+ (plus.google.com and mobile app).

No more cd or usb stick. Boot Linux from your phone with drivedroid.

This little utility is a geek's dream!

"Throw away your USB sticks! Forget about Linux install CDs! Be ever-ready for any data transfer or OS installation need! Install DriveDroid.

The premise behind DriveDroid is simple. It turns your phone into a USB drive. The application can either use an ISO file (e.g. to make a Linux boot CD - the application includes links to download these from the app itself) or you can create 'empty images' which effectively turn your device into a fully read-writable USB stick.

I tested the application with both those different scenarios - I booted Ubuntu on my machine using only my phone and a microUSB cable and I plugged my phone into my Mac whereby it appeared as an empty USB drive (100MB, because that's the capacity I chose) and I was able to copy files to it, unplug, then plug back in and pull the files off. Awesome!

The application is available in free (ad supported) and paid (80p) versions, although it's recommended that you download the free version to check compatability with your hardware before purchase.

I tested using my HTC Butterfly - all good - let us know how you get on!"

Does anyone have a nexus 7 and developer options aren't available? I was able to root but it doesn't show up when I plug into computer as if developer options is always on.

Is there any fix for this?

Looks like the new apple maps isn't so great, not everything is about just making things pretty. My opinion it may be OK but nothing compares to Google maps.

What are your thoughts on the new Maps app in iOS 6?
