The reality of the world we live in says this:

Despite the fact that I like Google+, I must (as a publisher) maintain a presence on Facebook. Despite the fact that I have a personal domain which uses Wordpress for publication, I will have to find a way to make sure that what I post on my domain is also posted (identical, for the most part) to the social media sites (one chosen, one essentially mandatory).

Does anyone  know of a way to have posted in one of these three locations forwarded/copied/otherwise duplicated in the other two?

OK... editing continues. But as we continue on the path to completing this project, we are going to announce soon a Kickstarter for a book called A Sky Full of Stars -- a detailed starmapping tool.

So... I estimate that the book will be done getting edited and be ready for print before October. After the Traveller 5 fiasco, I do not want to rush any portion of this process. I want to make sure I do this right the first time.

Arcanum 30th Anniversary is coming along slowly, but I am still on track to release this book in March (probably early in the month). So I am excited.

In the mean time, I highly suggest you head over to www.kickstarter.com and check out some of the things that many talented game designers are putting together. My favorites at the moment are Pivit (a very cool game with amazingly simple rules) and Hexels (a great way of making a hex-based tile system completely modular).

Work on the 30th Anniversary Edition is going well. As I get closer to being able to set a firm release date, I will post it here and on the ZiLa Games Blog.

But I want to ask a favor: spread the word. get people to come here and to the blog. Get them excited about this project! But most of all, let them know what will be happening when the 30th Anniversary Edition is complete and out the door (so-to-speak).

Once the current project is done, I will be creating the 4th Edition of the Arcanum. This will be a complete RPG published in the traditional format (i.e., a player's book, a game master's book, and a monster book) followed by at least two setting books.

As that particular edition of the Arcanum is being worked on, I will be using the blog as a designer's journal and letting you see how the game and the system will be updated for a new century, as well as made more approachable and more flexible than it is now.

Look forward to a system that uses classes or leaves them out -- without changing the rules in any way at all! Look forward to a system that has multiple ways of using magic or psi powers that allows them to interact in interesting and seamless ways. Look forward to a system that can do nearly anything... all without being overly complex or difficult to master.

Let them know that the Arcanum is coming back!

Quick Question -- if I have a Google+ page for this project, do I need a blogger site? or, if you prefer blogger, do I need Google+ for this?

Let me know what you think.

The Kickstarter project for this book has been started!
A re-release of a classic role-playing game and supplement from the 1980s; originally released by Bard Games.

So... where is the book, you ask. For that I have to say I am sorry. I have been in the hospital for the last 2+ months. I will look at this project and give an estimate for completion very soon.

As I go through my third pass on the spell descriptions (by far the largest chapter in The Arcanum) I was struck last night with an odd thought: when did Elemental magic absorb animal and plant spells? This seems a theme in most 1980's era fantasy role playing games. Druids deal in animals, plants, and elemental magic. Seems than Animals and plants might form one (or two) areas of magical study, while elemental magic (fire, earth, air, water, the quasi elements, and so on) would form another one (or even four or five).

Right now, with the 30th Anniversary edition -- I will leave things where they are. But in the 4th edition I have some thinking to do. Any thoughts?

Elemental magic with animal and plant spells seems to work in my campaign but I see your point. You have two classes that borrow heavily from Elemental magic, the Druid and Warlock/Witch. Perhaps have more Animal/Plant spells and only give Druids access to these spells (and perhaps make that class Dual class with Elemental/Nature spells).
