Rare footage of a great Northern Soul tune - by The Elgins. One of my favourites.
Performed nearly 50 years ago... always reminds me of London (where I first heard it)

Yes Mike - know what you mean. Would've preferred Al & Leon to speak for themselves at the very least

Tagore's explanation of duality in India music (containing both freedom & prescribed order) is fascinating, and sounds very much like Jazz improvisations. Albert Einstein on interviewer duties.

The second part of the Einstein-Tagore conversation that took place in Captuh on July 14, 1930. In this dialogue Einstein and Tagore discuss the nature of...

Wow, Steve Reich is way out there -- i like it! Tagore & Einstein would approve +Ray Toler

Free form jazz came to mind in terms of liberal composition. Certainly with the improvisational being something close to the Indian approach (as Tagore called it 'a duality of freedom and prescribed order').

The conversation made me think of two things - Talk Talk (especially the 'Spirit of Eden' album) for their incremental approach to music, writing lyrics last.

The second - Joe Harriott and his UK free jazz period. One tune on his Abstract album starts with a chiming wine glass as the foundation for an on- the- spot  improvised tune.

In keeping with the article, he also did an Indo-Jazz collaboration ... East meets West :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zFa6Rkw-JE

He's probably my favorite actor. I first saw him  in Guildenstern and Rosencrantz. Loved him as Drexl Spivey. Been following ever since. Eccentric individual but awesome at his craft.

Autonomous Independent Rational Spirit
Introduction
I'm the author of sci-fi novels Terra Swarm  Erebus and Soundings. In addition, I'm a creative writer, innovation manager & ghostwriter.

You can find my books here:
WRITING: The Linien Primae Terrasodes

I've unleashed the first of a science fiction series featuring the autonomous anti-hero Linien Primae.

I'm currently working on a series of Terrasodes - episodic books detailing deep space exploration. The books delve into the odyssey of autonomous anti-hero Linien Primae.

On the surface the books deal with major themes, with the first installment Terra Swarm focusing firmly on positive & negative liberty.

The second book Erebus is an allegorical journey of fraternity, fidelity, and struggle under the harshest of circumstances - a life marooned.

The third book Soundings finishes this trilogy with a look at equality in a future society normalized beyond recognition.

The writing contains a natural sprinkling of suspense, intrigue, romance and humor. But dig deeper and you can unearth sub-text relating to psychology, politics, sociology, religion and philosophy.

Where's my blog?

I blog about writing, music & song writing over at SquidInky.com.

MUSIC: Songwriting & Production

My first love & passion is still music composition though. Been writing since I was 16 and enjoy nothing better than losing many hours crafting new tunes.
