For my friend Bill - my go to guy for Admin!

My Linux loving friends will totally dig this on multiple levels. The rest of you can just enjoy the music and go with it.

"And, as for the relentless culture of excuses that persists in portraying these death squads as oppressed and excluded individuals pushed to the edge by an unjust society and forced by poverty to execute young people whose only crime is to like rock music, soccer, or a cool autumn night at a sidewalk cafe, that is an insult to the world’s poor as well as to the dead."

I agree with this man is writing.  I don't agree with everything but what he has said makes sense:

The West, Bernard-Henri Lévy writes from Paris, possesses all of the means necessary to defeat the threat it faces, should it choose to do so

Good for Sarah Haider for telling like it is!

When secular and atheist luminaries criticize right wing Christians, Liberal voices cheer them on. When those same voices attack right wing Islam, many liberals question their motives, accuse them of racism or Islamophobia. A fascinating talk by ex-Muslim Sarah Haider.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to work with a topaz (model TLBK755SE-BHSB-R) signature pad and don't want to reinvent the wheel.  Does anyone have any code they wouldn't mind sharing to help me get started.

I'm helping with the cooking of 10 turkeys for the UCD OWS kids. I might be serving also but it does not look like I'll be needed.

Does anyone know of a way to install pycrfsuite without having to install Visual Studio to compile crfsuite? It just seems crazy to force user to do this. BTW what I'm trying to do is install usaddress.py

Today those little men of congress made a major mistake! But I believe they are following the general feeling of the country and I can understand! The fear of a Syrian can overcome the compassion. I just don't agree!

I wonder if combo locks are better?

Man, I really have to replace all my padlocks.

+John Fabiani Many are easily opened with a shim (both multi wheel & single dial combination locks). Most European locks take a good bit more skill to pick, disc detainers take slightly more complex picks and can't be bumped open... but why bother? Most thieves wouldn't bother with the lock... Unless someone is trying to hide that the lock was opened they would just cut the lock (or brake a window).

Anybody run Django on one of the small fan-less computers like the Raspberry PI computers???  I'd like to find a small computer under $200 to run a Django app (only 10 people a week actually use it) and I don't want an old windows 95 box to do it.

Get a nettop, like the ASUS EeeBox for under $200:
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-EB1033-B0100-ASUS-EeeBox-Desktop/dp/B008ABL14A/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1366922157&sr=1-3&keywords=nettop

cheap, runs on low power, small form factor and no experimental stuff to worry about, since its x86.

2011 has not been good to the computer industry - we have lost much! RIP!
Rob Pike originally shared:

I just heard that, after a long illness, Dennis Ritchie (dmr) died at home this weekend. I have no more information.

I trust there are people here who will appreciate the reach of his contributions and mourn his passing appropriately.

He was a quiet and mostly private man, but he was also my friend, colleague, and collaborator, and the world has lost a truly great mind.
