Yes, even my hobbies revolve around tech for a better democracy. From PDF:Applied to a live beta tomorrow, it's been great fun volunteering with the PollWatch team!

Democracy, meet the Internet. (p.s. do the voting tools look familiar to anyone?)

We're making it easier for you to get informed and cast your ballot in the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election. Get news, videos, live coverage of the conventions and debates, and more on our Politics & Elections site. There, you can also refer to our online voter guide for rules and deadlines about registering to vote, voting by mail and specific information for military and overseas voters. We're also helping to bring the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention to a wider audience, as the official live stream provider and social networking platform for both conventions.

Visit the Google Politics & Elections site to get started, and stay tuned here and on the +Google Politics & Elections page as we move closer to the election.

My friend Matt got arrested yesterday for attending a Romney campaign rally and... resembling a protester? Nope, I don't get it either.

That baby elephant picture is your best one, but I love seeing the cats walk though the jeeps!

TurboVote is working with the +Knight Foundation to help students at FIU, UMiami, and Miami-Dade College register and vote by mail. It's a huge partnership, and I'm excited to see what widespread adoption of simpler voting can do for Miami as a community.

And while I'm sharing exciting news, I should also note that I'll be starting as the full-time COO for TurboVote next week. After two years of building this part-time, I'm amazed and overjoyed that I get to devote my full attention to making voting work better!
MIAMI (Feb. 22, 2012)—South Florida’s leading colleges and universities will aid Greater Miami residents in registering and voting by mail – with the help of a new, national service called TurboVot...

"William O’Brien, the speaker of the New Hampshire State House, told a Tea Party group earlier this year that students are 'foolish' and tend to 'vote their feelings' because they lack life experience. 'Voting as a liberal,' he said, 'that’s what kids do.'"
To limit Democratic turnout on Election Day, Republican lawmakers are making it harder for students and other liberal-leaning groups to vote.
