Since Google+ allows us to upload high-resolution photographs, I thought I'd add this detailed image of a honey bee coated in dandelion pollen. In the high-resolution file we can see the branched, feathery hairs the bees use to gather pollen. Just use your mouse wheel to scroll around.

Photographed yesterday in Urbana, Illinois. This image is a composite of about 45 individual exposures taken at different focal depths and combined into a single sharp image.

For #macromonday , curated by +Kelli Seeger Kim, +Jennifer Eden, and +Kerry Murphy, and also for #macro4all

The charismatic yet enigmatic plasmodial slime mold is ready for its close-up, in the documentary The Creeping Garden (which appears to be a work-in-progress, with a teaser trailer on Vimeo.)

"The slime mould is being used to explore biological-inspired design, emergence theory, unconventional computing and robot controllers, much of which borders on the world of science fiction.

But as well as exploring the slime mould in the lab, the film will also travel out into the wild, hunting for the organisms in their natural habitat with dedicated amateurs and experts alike.
