...essentially useless parenting interventions: observing a kid’s class; helping a teenager choose high-school courses; and, especially, disciplinary measures such as punishing kids for getting bad grades or instituting strict rules about when and how homework gets done. This kind of meddling could leave children more anxious than enthusiastic about school, Robinson speculates. “Ask them ‘Do you want to see me volunteering more? Going to school social functions? Is it helpful if I help you with homework?’ ” he told me. “We think about informing parents and schools what they need to do, but too often we leave the child out of the conversation.”
And other insights from a ground- breaking study of how parents impact children’s academic achievement

First let me say the food was great which is what you want but here's the issue, when you dine-in, you look at service and how the restaurant treats its patrons. The down and dirty: we purchased a Groupon to have a meal for 2 (prix fixe menu options) at $30 so we should have just paid tax and tip...not the case at all. Bill comes back in addition to the tax and tip, there was a $20 fee --excuse us? Not being novices to Groupon, we asked and pressed why are we being charge another fee when the $30 Groupon covers the meal? The waitress told us the fee is imposed by the owner and that was that ---there was nothing we could do about it. She then proceeded to tell us how she doesn't get paid any hourly salary that she lives off of tips....WHAT? Bottom line a meal that should have been roughly $45 dollars cost us more headache and confusion ----don't go here unless you want to hear/see/feel bad management...this fee should have been disclosed to us upon presenting the Groupon AND it should have been in the fine print....

Like I read, do not let the awning fool you. Great lighting, good music and killer tacos. Yum yum yum. Cocktails y agua fresca are delish. We were able to try both postres but only liked the one we didn't order....4 stars be they give small rations of the salsa and pickled veggies which was not enough. So worth the visit.

When my regular mechanic tells me I need to replace my muffler and it will be $500+, it was tough to hear. I have an honest cheaper than the dealer mechanic who warranty’s everything. However this time my father pitched a place he had been to with my mother years ago. Thank goodness I listened to my father's advice and checked out Value Plus Mufflers. Yes it's small, yes there are no frills but they are honest, quick, and economical- traits that beat free bad coffee and tv. My $500+ ordeal was only $45 to fix. The mechanic put my car up on the lift, showed me the issue and 20 minutes later: cut the pipe, replaced, sealed the flange that broke off and I was ready to go. He showed me the work he did and my baby runs like it should. I asked the owner if it was only a muffler shop, and he said. He has since expanded to emissions, brakes etc. He told me to bring my car in and if they could fix it ---they would. Wonderful work and great personalities ---not something you find in an auto shop. And PS never a diagnostic charge. Pretty awesome.

Small business with hard working people who have always treated me well. Need air, tire fixed or new tires --they can provide. In the winter they charge for air but not in the summer. Emmanuel helped me out and took care of me, even gave me 7 days to research and ensure I like the pricing and to be frank you can't beat it. I called everywhere and the installation on the 4 tires is what helped.
