Their selection of Taiwanese creative industry products are really comprehensive and the prices are more or less equivalent to that of other stores. There's also lots of vintage items on the ground floor (including lots of beautiful old Taiwanese bowls which I love). The prices are very good - better than what I've seen at markets and such. Food at the third floor cafe is absolutely delicious and the service is friendly. Because they try to use as much Taiwanese ingredients as possible, it's a great place to bring foreign visitors :) I highly recommend!

I didn't think the grilled mackerel was outstanding, but other than that, everything was 物超所值。The octopus rice was delicious, as was the salad and the 手捲 :)

I had marvelous pizza there once. The homemade sausage was really delicious. The service was a bit hipper than thou, which is unusual in Taiwan. But if it were going to happen anywhere, Shida would be a good candidate. I ordered a cider, my friend ordered a beer. His beer came, but the waitress gave me nothing, and left. I called another waitress over, who promptly informed me they were out of cider. So it seems that they think I shouldn't be privilege to the information that what I ordered had run out unless I ask. Good thing they hadn't run out of pizza. Otherwise I wouldn't have found out till my friend's meal arrived? A little wtf. But the pizza is so good I'd go back there.

Interesting retro decor, with a big cooking stove right outside by the front door. Gaudily painted wooden frames, old movie posters, quaint decorations throughout. Very chilled out atmosphere with plenty of rowdy drinking and eating, as well as boisterousness all-round. Once even saw a table of drink-and-draw (or more appropriately, eat-and-draw?). The food, however, is very standard 快炒, and the prices are higher than other 快炒 places. I'd still go back though, because it's a good location and I like the retro style.

Is it chilled-out or is it hipper-than-thou? All depends on your mindset, I suppose. Not the kind of 'customer-service' one may be accustomed to in Taiwan - nobody comes round to check how you are doing, there's no '歡迎光臨' when you walk in and no '謝謝光臨' when you walk out. But when I approach the staff with a smile, I get a smile back. The interior is just my sort of thing - a hodgepodge collection of mismatched old furniture, posters, random assortment of books for your delectation. Drinks only, no food (wish they had biscuits and cakes, but then again, if that's what I'm looking for there are plenty of other places I could go). Coffee is delicious (but I am no connoisseur). Good for an afternoon's whiling away with a friend or two, chewing the fat and and people watching.

Fantastic food and fast service. I especially enjoyed the pickles & olives that came on the side of my grilled cheese. It's getting the finer details (like pickles) bang on that makes the place a cut above.
