Waiting for takeaway , long long queue , lots of people sitting down looking bored , you'd think I'd learn by now not to go for takeaway on a Friday night.

Stop training because of the arthritis? I thought exercise was actually one of the best things for arthritis. I would check with a doctor that understands sports medicine.

Garrunteed minimum income DOESN'T work, what happens is it rapidly becomes the MAXIMUM wage as companies shed workers and hire new ones at the lower maximum wage that never increases.

“Our device isn’t meant to make employees more efficient,” cofounder Alexandros Vardakostas has said. “It’s meant to completely obviate them.”

The Momentum burger-bot isn’t remotely humanoid. You can forget visions of Futurama’s Bender. It’s more of a burger assembly line. Ingredients are stored in automated containers along the line. Instead of pre-prepared veggies, cheese, and ground beef—the bot chars, slices, dices, and assembles it all fresh.

Why would talented engineers schooled at Berkeley, Stanford, UCSB, and USC with experience at Tesla and NASA bother with burger-bots? Robots are increasingly capable of jobs once thought the sole domain of humans—and that’s a huge opportunity.

Burger robots may improve consistency and sanitation, and they can knock out a rush like nobody’s business. Momentum’s robot can make a burger in 10 seconds (360/hr). Fast yes, but also superior quality. Because the restaurant is free to spend its savings on better ingredients, it can make gourmet burgers at fast food prices.
I saw the future of work in a San Francisco garage two years ago. Or rather, I was in proximity to the future of work, but happened to be looking

Have you see the cr*p the schools are teaching our kids in maths these days?

Multiplying two numbers together, they solve it using something called the grid method where they multiply each digit individually in a table , write the result down in as box then add each of those results together to get the final result.

I showed my daughter the way I was taught where you just write the last digit down in the result box and carry the rest over to add to the next column being multipled.

She tried both ways multiplying two 5 digit numbers together, the schools method took 3 times the time to do than the method I had just shown her 5 minutes earlier.

when I questioned the school, their excuse for using such a time extensive method was 'some pupils found the old system difficult to follow, so we now teach a method everyone can understand' , never mind they could spend some time helping those kid understand the better method.

It doesn't matter that the Sats and Medway test are timed and anything that slows the kid down basically penalises them.

It's madness.

Decent enough pool, changing rooms are smelly and a bit tired, pool has a water slide, but it's often closed off and a wave machine which runs for 5 minutes every 30 minutes during family swim times, bring your own food as the cafe was closed recently.
