Great... have been a Photoshop user for years.
QUESTION =
The nodes selection when I create paths look big as beach balls... how would I get the size nodes shown in your example - smaller...???
thanks!

+Nate Owens This was done using an older version of GIMP, the newer version has larger nodes as a design feature. However if you zoom in to the image, the nodes don't get any bigger.

Been watching this over and over - experimenting with the bridge tool. took a couple of hours and about 16 tries to figure out that bridging polys will not get that "pull-out" arc effect.... Bridging HOLES does... :o - very helpful tut... will be looking and experimenting more (y) - also that the Z-Modeler brush will work very well (better even) on a tool that is not converted to a poly-mesh (seems to, anyway -- Keep them coming!

Interesting. I was reading that any mesh needed to be a PM3D. But, I guess that really is only necessary in order to sub-divide. I really enjoy your illustration work!

I bought the pro version for my samsung note tablet...
It's cool, great watercolor effects...

Big BUT...
It is missing an indispensable tool (IMO) - A selection tool... Sketchbook has them, rectangle, magic wand, lasso - Works like those tools in photoshop and the main Corel Painter program... used both for years doing commercial illustration for magazines, books, products (https://www.flickr.com/photos/nateowens/sets/)

For me Sketchbook pro remains the top dog for Android tablet illustration/painting app
I use the tablet to develop concepts and move them to my big hog desktop to do the finals in Painter, PhotoShop, etc....

if it's a tutorial, voice over about the steps would be more informative than the music. I've played around, but no pro, either = http://youtu.be/nnYZxiYx3Ic

+Nate Owens Thanks for that link, making a tutorial is really challenging for me on this subject. I going to do a voice over and speed my 4 hour video up threw the tedious stuff hope I can make sense out of it. Its taking me a long time to learn how to do this I tend to forget that there was I time I didn't even know what a polygon was.

Thanks... one of the best I've seen so far
- - Did you start with a cube primitive?
When i grab a cube I get a gazillion polys (the standard polymesh cube)

Thanks! I started with the polysphere. It's in the lightbox menu. Then, I just reconstructed the subdivisions until it was a cube, and deleted all higher sub-div levels. You can just save that out as it's own brush, and have a cube any time you need it. I'm sure there are faster ways, but that's how I got there.

Keep up on the latest from the studio - New art, prints, sculptures, gift items, illustrations, work in progress and doodles

illustration and gallery art
(oils, watercolors, acrylics, etc.) The work has been on bus benches, ads, magazine illustrations, tv spots, coffee mugs, shirts, greeting cards and wall decor prints.

The humor art has been the most popular and most widely published (greeting cards and products from Leanin' Tree publishing), inspired by growing up on a farm around tale-spinning great uncles and a menagerie of interesting critters.

As an art director I designed annual reports, catalogs, brochures and ads (some ran in Time, Newsweek, USA Today and The Saturday Evening Post)  - working with a staff of artists and photographers, directing photo-shoots of products and on-location setups for companies and resorts, catalogs for firearms and trophies, sports wear, boats, fishing gear, golf equipment and toys.

I work on the computer
- software I use:
Painter
Photoshop
Illustrator

For 3D modeling:
ZBrush, Rhino, Carrara, Hexagon, Sculptris, others.

For web sites work:
DreamWeaver (Web page design)
Flash (animations, interactive graphics)
Sound Forge, Acid XMC (for sound editing)
Vegas Studio, Camtasia (video editing)
