Georgia straight article about our People Parks & Dogs strategy -- it's mostly correct, except we're not recommending dogs be eliminated from all picnic areas and sports fields -- just ones that the Park Board designate.

Maybe this is what we need along the Broadway corridor instead of a subway -- small footprint, likely less expensive, faster to build, more enjoyable experience for passengers -- we just have to figure out what to do with the other buses / trucks / overhead trolley lines.

I appreciate these sentiments about working with a site's history and regenerating the site as a source of life:

"I feel obliged to recondition disused landscapes for the next generation — to rehabilitate them as sources of life. Who should deal with these landscapes if not landscape architects and urban planners? Better us than casino developers.
...
Landscape is basically history. There are only two possibilities: To obliterate that history or to make it your partner."

I stopped by the Olympic village to check out the new beaver dam today - it's a pretty impressive structure, complete with salvaged 2x4s!

I like the idea of the narrow, stacked rainwater collection system, and it's a unique concept to combine it with a living wall. Supplemental irrigation would still end up being required, though. I'd like to see how it looks in a few years...
