The merger, if approved, would combine the two companies as PEN Inc., a new publicly traded company.
Applied Nanotech Holdings Inc., an Austin-based nanotechnology research and development company, has set an Aug. 22 shareholder meeting for a vote on a proposed merger with an Ohio company.

About $600 million for rail is less than the $700 million rail planners had asked for, and could mean that the line would stop short of its northern terminus at Highland Mall.
​Austin's city staff has recommended City Council put a $1 billion transportation bond on the November ballot with about $600 million for an urban rail line and $400 million in funding for road projects, according to ​a report from the Austin American-Statesman's Ben Wear.
