Khmer New Year is predominantly a time when crime rises in Cambodia.

+Keith Kelly couldn't fault the whole experience. We were a little worried about lack of bedside manner & language as have had some negative experiences with Thai hospitals in the past but this wasn't the case here at all.

Some people we talked to also didn't like Dr Nisarath - she worked very well for us.

This is quite bizarre really.
Comedian Hiroshi Neko will represent Cambodia in the men's marathon at this year's Olympic Games in London, according to the secretary general of Cambodia's Olympic committee.

There are good times being an expat and living away from your own country and there are trying times.

At the moment I am going through some good times. :-)
A list of reasons why we will continue to live in Cambodia for the time being.

Pretty upsetting to read this on our local expat Facebook group here in #Cambodia:

‎"shocking news in front of Epic Arts Cafe, we saw a police man whipping a young boy constantly with long black rubber and forced him to sit down on the street without any resist. Whipped him all the way down the road!!! I had to yell "STOP"!!!!Makes me SICK to watch them!!! And as a deaf person, I could hear the whips...ouch!!!! So sad...."

This makes a lot of sense to me. I'm sure we could do the same in the UK
with 1 and 2ps.
Since C.G.P. Grey recently made a case over the unnecessariness of pennies and that the US Government should drop them, he's the one that should be letting you know that Canada is doing it. C.G.P. Grey

Amazing really in this day and age; you shoot 3 innocent (unarmed) protesters, you try and bribe them and then you're still free and unlikely to be prosecuted.

Good post on the state of affairs in Cambodia...

+mike rhoades thanks very much for your comments. Debt basically takes away choices. If you have no debt then you you can choose to live how you want. Unfortunately in the Western world we are encouraged to borrow all the time.

Digital entrepreneur in Southeast Asia
Introduction
British expat based in South East Asia since 2000.

In 2000 I left the UK on a one way ticket to Tehran!
(It was the furthest place East I could get to on a free Lufthansa ticket I had won).

In 2001 I arrived in Osaka, Japan and worked there for a year and half teaching English to businesses.

In 2002 I moved to Cambodia and set up my own small retail business in Phnom Penh.

I have now sold 6 franchises of that original business model and the shops continue to flourish today.

My personal blog on expat life in Cambodia can be found at talesfromanexpat.com.

My passion for the last few years has been digital marketing.

I have read, listened to, commented & tweeted on this subject extensively.

My new blog on digital marketing and social media in Southeast Asia can be found at visibleasia.com.

I am a Dad of two and enjoy summers in France.
