Our eyes constantly draw us into outside world with so many stimulants that we forget to go within, to trust our inner self. Eyes also take over our other senses - touch, smell, taste and hearing. Chair yoga is Yoga for EveryBody. If you’ve trouble getting down to the mat for practicing yoga stretches, bends and twists, chair yoga is for you. If you sit a lot or travel a lot for your vocation, chair yoga is for you. 
If you can breathe, you can do chair yoga. Join Vidya Nahar, ERYT for this workshop where you’ll learn several ways to practice yoga while seated at your desk, standing by your chair or travelling. You’ll also learn how to synchronize your moves with your breath. No prior yoga experience is necessary to participate in this workshop. Experienced yogis are welcome, too.

Vidya Nahar, ERYT will discuss and demonstrate several breathing techniques including bandhas (locks) used in Pranayam - Yogic Breath Regulation System. Prana is manifested through your breath. It is your energy flow. Pranayam is conscious control of inhalation, retention and exhalation of breath. Learn to practice breath awareness in this workshop with Vidya. You'll discover that you can actually alter the state of mind and body through right kind of breathing. Regular practice of Pranayam helps prevent frequent sinus infections, runny / blocked noses and helps with relaxation.

Two new chair yoga sessions are starting at the Buffalo Grove Park District beginning Tuesday, February 19th / Thursday, February 21st.

Chair yoga classes meet three times a week at the Alcott Center (530, Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove) – Mondays and Thursdays 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Tuesdays 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
 
You can come sign up for once a week, twice a week or thrice a week classes. You can make up missed classes on another class day within the same session.
