morning fog & sunrise make for an ever changing combinations
We become painters at some deep level not out of a love of images. I think, at some point, we fall in love with our chosen medium. We seem to spend our lives trying to master it. Trying to express the blinding radiance of t...

with the internet, custom gift is the way to go
After all these years of painting, I have my share of ups & downs, with the frustrations & uncertainty. This remains the best part of a creative life...the ability to create a bit of enchantment. To bring joy to someone's day...

using purple & aqua to express a mood
For this sketch by the water, my quest for color is the starting point. I'm trying to convey a cloudy & humid summer day with purple & aqua. The fact that this was done in a sketchbook, means I can be loose & not fuzz with the painting. Sometimes we learn more by not getting attach to our work.

straight from the garden into my studio!
From my first visit thru the English countryside, memory of endless meadows of wild poppy have always stayed with me. So when my rep mention that Poppy is trending, I drop everything & started some new ideas for a Poppy colle...

oil turpentine is great on paper
For a quick sketch, choose a scene with just a few simple shapes. That way, you can limit your color palette. For this sketch, I use soft blue for sky, the white of the clouds is from the paper. A wash of Oxide Green was use to convey the shape of the meadow & trees in the distance.

Came to Photoshop very late in my career. It took forever to learn. Since then, I dont remember the last time I actually complete an illustration. By not fuzzing over one single painting which could take up to a month to fini...

Long process, the finish product is the best part of my job.
Paint what you love! My teddy bear illustrations are inspire by my love of collecting hand made bears. This remains my favorite license, for a scrapbook company.

a simple garden sketch with green & yellow
I try to stop by Montgomery Place about this time, to visit the garden. It's a 19th century estate overlooking the Hudson River. Aside from the peaceful garden, there's a network of trials & paths with views of the river & the Catskill Mountain. There is a large orchard on the property.

summer collection inspire by my time on the water
I started a new collection, inspired by my New England coastal visit. But this is another project that has been a long time in the making. Procrastination is define as delay or postpone action. In my case, there's always something else that's putting me off on the process of staying focus.
