Having 5 years of experience programming with Java and wanted to dive into mobile application development in 2012, learning new multiple languages and IDE for different mobile platforms was too challenging for me.

While researching about an hybrid mobile development tool for Java developers, I came across codenameone... A cross-platform development tool that makes building native apps for Android, iOS, Windows (mobile and desktop), Blackberry, Web and Mac possible.

I fell in love with it, as it speaks the language I know too well, multiple features and it's completely open-source.

I've grown to be one of the best mobile application developer in my Country, South Africa while using codenameone.

Codenameone has really grown alot after being co-founded by a former Sun Microsystems Java guru with 20 years of experience.

If anyone on this platform is interested in mobile development, I will suggest you check codenameone out. They have Plugins for different IDEs. I use it with Netbeans.

P.S. I'm not affiliated with codenameone, neither am I doing this to market the tool. I only post this to point out a tool that could be of interest to great developers on this platform.
